gameon: Well to be honest, working out tires me out too much. Even when i was younger and
played football (soccer) i couldn't deal with the stamina side of things very well.
Primate: OK, I guess there could be a number of reasons for that. If possible you might want to try and
increase your maximum oxygen uptake. Lots of research shows that high intensity interval
training is effective for many people in this regard, i.e. running, cycling or just about any
activity which requires the use of large muscle groups and which can be performed with high
intensity over some time (seconds, minutes). With high intensity I mean in the area of 85 - 95 %
of your maximum heart rate. This is also effective for consuming calories. You can find some
great information on the following site if you're interested:
http://www.ntnu.edu/cerg/advice I've recently learned that some people do not seem to be able to increase their max. oxygen
uptake any much through this type of training, though, but even non-respondents will gain
other benefits from training nonetheless.
Thanks for this info. I am self conscious so i dont go out much. But i have been able to work out in the garage. Problem is that my barbells are buried under house/garden equipment of other family members. I really need them to get rid of that stuff in order to start working out properly again.
It also doesn't help that the last time i did running, i sprained my ankle badly. I could do with buying a treadmill, but i need money and space in the garage!
