hedwards: You really should be measuring in pounds, it's so much more rewarding for any given amount of weight loss.
The numbers would be bigger certainly but it'd be tainted by association with the grossly inferior imperial system, metric or gtfo!

Also if I used pounds, the weight I lose would sound like more but the weight I AM would sound fuckloads worse than it does now

Get over it, you're already tainted by something far worse.

Fosters.

Even if I did drink, I'd not drink that crap. As the saying goes, fosters is our #1 export beer because noone here is dumb enough to drink it

Technically most of that's bottled in Canada.

Yeah, they have far worse, Steve Irwin's kid is doing TV and I think they inflicted The Wiggles on the rest of us (I'm surprised we didn't turn them back into a penal colony for that one).

The Wiggles provide good advices though... They should open a fitness center.

♫ run run run ♫ getting strong ♫ getting stroonnnngg ♫

(yes, I have a 3 year old daughter).

I'm familiar with them, only a bit, the more troubling menaces though are Caillou (who apparently doesn't know how to spell. I probably should mock him as he's probably got cancer and some sort of cretinism) and Dino Dan, who quite frankly is mentally ill and also more than a little enfeebled intellectually himself.
Fuckin 'ell, misread my appointment card today, showed up at 10am for my training appointment only to be told that THIS week I was booked in for 10:45. So 3 quarters of an hour of warmup & exhausting myself before I could START...

Still, down another 2.2kg so its working but fuck I need some energy

Chuck a banana and go kill some calories brah.

Anyway an update on my own regime: haven't been to the gym in monkey months already, but I've been regularly following up on arms/shoulders/chest workout at home. The gains so far are significant, since I make sure I chug down at least 120g of protein a day. Just wish there's some place I can put up a pullup bar.

You seem to be doing seriously solid progress, though. Good job, man.
I self serviced my treadmill and rearranged furniture until it "fit" and I stood at least 50/50 odds of getting past it without tripping and falling on my face. Been using it every morning since then, it's nice to not have to drag myself very far in the winter to work out, easy to skip it when you've got to freeze your ass off there and back.
Does anyone know how to tell whether a bench is solid and durable enough? I want to get one, but I've got this worry that the bench will snap.

In my experience they tend to be pretty sturdy. It doesn't really take a whole lot of strength to handle the sorts of weights that you're likely to be working with. Probably the best thing would be to look at the specs, but I don't believe there's much variation between types. Even the ones in the club tend not to vary much from the ones at home.

generally speaking the weight is going to be very close to one set of legs at pretty much all times.

The bigger concern is going to be having a spotter. If you're working out at home without a spotter then you shouldn't need to worry about the bench too much.
Ummm, the things that motivated me into working out in a constantly were:

-Having a Gym near home.
-Keeping a weight under my computer table, for loading screens or so on.
-Listen to music while working out.
-That accomplishment feeling after each workout, for having done what you aimed for

Right now I'm getting used to a new protein rich diet to get some muscle, and it's slowly but steadily working.
Some general tips:

1) Eat a protein rich meal/supplement within an hour of working out. Keep the caloric count to 1/2 the workout.

2) Also, fruit sugars do a lot of good right after intense exercise.

3) All weight training should be done as intense as possible, for 8-12 reps.
