Last time the site went down (for the end of beta) we gave our users a free game. While we're not going to claim that this will always happen, it's true that we have another one for you guys today. But before we go into that, let's tell you about the exciting new features that we've added to GOG.com:

As announced during our presentation on CD Projekt Days Spring Conference, the update adds two highly requested by users improvements: a new downloader application and personal messages. The new downloader has been made from scratch by GOG.com developers and features multithreaded downloads for performance, automatic error checking and runs only when user is downloading something from GOG.com. The downloader is not a client application and is optional to use, although recommended for downloading big games, like i.e. The Witcher 2.

Personal Messaging, the second biggest feature of the Spring Update, is a combination of instant and private messaging. The system will have fully configurable privacy settings and just like the downloader is completely optional. Aside of those two changes, the team has introduced many various improvements to make the user experience even better - those include improved checkout system, update to work flawlessly on newest browsers and easier to use coupon system.

Finally, as the cherry on top for the Spring Update Sundae (man, we could really go for some ice cream), the we released Dragonsphere, free to all users. The game is an adventure point-and-click title by famous MicroProse and features excellent story, clever puzzles and simple yet appealing graphics. “It’s easy to lose yourself in this fresh, engaging game” according to PC Gamer. This adds to our already existing catalog of free titles, bringing the total up to five.

Have fun with the new features and enjoy your new free game (in a little bit)!
You guys are awesome, as always!

nondeplumage: I've never even heard of Dragonsphere before, but it seems to be from the same people who did Syberia?

I'll be eager to give it a try. =D
Uhm, I don't think so. Dragonsphere is an american production while Syberia is belgian\french
I§ think you're confusing the publishers (Microprose and Microids).

Dragonsphere seems from the same designer of Master of Magic and Darklands

Nice! Can't wait for TW2
Stupid question but where do you download the new DL ?
Wow.....I wanted to play Dragonsphere again for the last 15 years (or so) and now it comes to GoG...for free.....AWESOME!

Site updates are great aswell :)
The messaging system sounds intriguing, not least because GOG, unlike Steam, has no noteworthy multiplayer games, and I can't say that I actually know anybody on GOG. But maybe it will develop in some kind of new and incredible direction :)

Finally, Dragonsphere looks intriguing, so I will be giving that a try later :)
already played dragosphere, it is a great game, lookin forward to downloadin it from gog

No, it's from the people who brought us Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender.

It's not up yet. When it is, it will appear in catalogue where you will be able to opt-in as is the case with all other free GOG games.

I just tried out the D/L and it avg 1800+ KB/s and it has very nice options as well works great...
That's why I love GOG, good games, no stupid protection, extra addons (soundtracks etc) ... If only digital download games where always released like GOG does I would sell my ~300 games collection on migrate to digital only!
Just to note: if you elect to receive updates abut your PM's, you should get an hourly summary about the messages you've received. We didn't want to flood everyone's inboxes with 250 emails a day.
*is puzzled*
Has the update already been released right now (I think it was issued somewhere around this time) and if so, how does one send/receive private messages through GoG now?
