UPDATE: The blizzard of holiday bonus codes has almost ended; check back at 17.00 GMT for our final giveaway's rules!

Winter is settling in around us, and we wanted to share with all of you guys what GOG.com’s holiday celebrations are going to be so you know what’s coming up from your favorite digital downloadable games distributor.

Starting on this Thursday, we’ll have The Witcher 2 on an eye-popping 40% off discount for 48 hours AND we’re bundling in a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition with any purchase of The Witcher 2. We’ll be running this from 11.00 GMT on Thursday 8 December until 10.59 GMT on 10 December, and it’s the best bargain we’re going to have on the Witcher series this holiday season!

Then, on Saturday, we will start a season of holiday celebrations by awarding a number of game codes to you guys! We’ll have copies of Master of Orion I + II, courtesy of GOG and Atari, copies of Realms of Arkania I + II, and lots of codes for $5.99 and $9.99 games. We’ll be giving them away through social media (that’s Facebook and Twitter) as well as through our forums right here on GOG.com! Be sure to check in with us this weekend and you just might win an awesome game or two from us.

Finally, we’re starting our winter sale with a huge bang--we’re giving anyone a free copy of Empire Earth Gold Edition for 48 hours. Starting on Monday 12 December at 11.00 GMT and running until Wednesday 14 December at 10.59 GMT, anyone can add Empire Earth: Gold Edition to his or her shopping cart for free as a holiday gift from us to you!

Also, starting on Monday at 11.00 GMT, GOG.com is adding virtually every single game in our catalog for 50% off from now until 2 January 2012. Pick up games from fantastic publishers and developers like EA, Interplay, Atari, Activision, Sierra, and many more for half off this holiday season!

With an incredible 50% off Holiday Promo, we hope that we’ve solved all your holiday shopping needs, whether its an action-packed shooter like Painkiller for your cousin Timmy, a great thinking-man’s chess game like Chessmaster 9000 for your Uncle Bob, or even a restaurant-management simulation like Restaurant Empire to try and encourage your crazy roommate to learn how to cook, you will be able to pick it all up from GOG.com at incredible holiday savings!

Happy Holidays to all!

This is going to be a great promo! And a free Empire Earth: Gold Edition? Wow!
Although it's a bit strange that GOG posts the Christmas promo this early, because if I remember right, the promo was a surprise last year (the last day of the "advent calendar") and the year before.

anlauf: So.
Just to be clear.

The Witcher 2 won't be on 50% off sale, even without Witcher 1. Correct?!
I think you're correct. The Witcher 2 will cost 40% less during these days (with Witcher 1), but I think it won't be included in the promotion.

Thanks Fantastic.
Little fun, I bought The Witcher 1 E.D. last saturday.
lol
Going to gift someone with it.
what's the story with Empire Earth?
I really hope that Bioware's games will be discounted for 50% off as well, starting Monday. I really wanna pick up Baldur's Gate 1 + 2 complete editions and Neverwinter Nights. My semester break is coming up soon and nerding out hard over the holidays with these epic rpg's is what I want!

I think you wont get a separate gift code for W1 during purchase - it just will be added to your account. If you have it already you wont get double.
My name is Thomas and I’ll not believe it until I see discounted prices :-)
Now that's what I call celebrating the holidays !!!
(OK I hate the "Social media" needs to get and the have to hang around the forums - but never the less I'll say that GOG is celebrating the holidays at full throtle)
But are we getting the 50% off virtually every single game in the catalog from now until 2 January 2012 , at one at a time and then bang gone or are all the offers, when given , going to last until 2 January 2012 (?) - I am curious as my funding is rather low - especially the remainder of this month......

Thanks for telling the whole discount program in advance, makes much easier to plan what to buy from here.

Agreed! Looking forward to getting some the classic EA games.
Funny thing is, even with the huge discounts, I still will not be acquiring everything in my wishlist... why oh why must money be finite!?!
Ok this is awesome. I've decided I'm gonig to set aside $30 right off the bat to buy games. so that's ten half-off 5.99 games. The only thing that sucks is to decide which ten games. I know the Atlantis games will be there. And probably the Ultimas. And some Might and Magic.

tough call though.
Can I give Witcher 1 as a gift to a friend?
