The biggest announcement in GOG.com's history is a fact! Electronic Arts grants access to its deep back catalogue of classic franchises via yours truly GOG.com!

In a ground-breaking, earthshaking, and jaw-dropping deal we've managed to sign with EA and will be releasing more than 25 legendary classics from the globally renowned publisher. With today’s announcement three widely known and much awaited brands get the revival treatment from GOG.com: Wing Commander: Privateer, Dungeon Keeper and Ultima Underworld 1+2.

We will be adding more than 25 titles from EA over the next few months, so the games will be unveiled gradually, but we can already reveal that the next upcoming titles from this huge deal are: Crusader: No remorse, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and Magic Carpet.

While the agreement between Electronic Arts and GOG.com brings back many acclaimed and well known franchises, it doesn’t include the much anticipated System Shock or Syndicate series at this time. After releasing the first six Electronic Arts classics, we will take a break from the concentrated awesome until later in the summer.

satoru: I hope Alpha Centauri will have the SecuROM stripped out
It had SecuRom? That's hard to believe given how old it is.

I'm wondering if they're going to include Alien Crossfire or not...
GOG. You seem to have forgotten something.
Something veeeeeeeeeeeery important.
Hint" It starts with "y" and ends with "ou forgot to release a game today."
Unless there was an announcement I missed about them not releasing one today?
I must ask, with the launch of EA's new online store "origin", will GOG lose out on old EA games or did GOG and EA make a deal that will see both parties receiving older EA games?

Also, is there anyone here that will being using Origin? At the moment they could do with some more games but the games that they do have are better priced than Steam.
any idea when we will be seeing Alpha Centauri?

funny story just like week looking for a good nzb i said "Man! it would be so much better if gog just released this game so i could buy it rather than dicking around on the internet looking for an ancient game!"

and lo and behold, this gets announced. awesome, gog you are the best distributor ever!
Please let Starflight (the PC version, NOT the Genesis version) be part of this. Please please please.
Command and Conquer + American McGee's Alice....PLEASE???
And I still keep praying for system shock to a be a legit download, so I don't have to troll through the internet looking for patches for a cracked version.

You do realize both command and conquer and command and conquer red alert are free don't you? EA released them both as promotions for later C&C games.

... never really liked C&C though so don't release that, far better EA games can be released.

You can also download a legit full version of "Tiberian Sun" : http://www.fileplanet.com/210105/210000/fileinfo/Command-&-Conquer:-Tiberian-Sun-(Full-Game)
If you download the "Tiberian Sun" there then if you want to play "Tiberian Sun" on-line (if that is still possible) then please read the FULL "Description" to get info about how to install the the game for that and how to get it to run.

The original C&C: Red Alert For Free : http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/41268/Download-The-Original-C-C-Red-Alert-For-Free
The original C&C: Gold for free : http://www.gamershell.com/news_41337.html

Please note that this is NOT GOG.com downloads so there is no guarantee that these games will run on your system. One thing though, you probably should burn any ISO files to a CD/CD-RW and avoid using CD/DVD drive emulator tools - such tools are often also accused, by game makers, of making problems for legit discs with DRM protection....

Anyway , as much as I *HATE* EA for their excessive DRM crap (like you can't play SINGLE player C & C 4 without internetconnection - I consider this privacy invasion) and as much as I STILL consider the EA EULA at GOG.com a problem (nomatter how much a lot here keeps saying that it is OK - which I think that it is NOT - the EULA is very NON-GOG,com like in my eyes)
then you got to give EA that the "promotional" "GiveAway" of a game like "Tiberian Sun" still is very neat ! - as are the fact that one also can buy "Command and Conquer - The First Decade" on DVD for less than USD 20 where I live - I think that is a very nice deal.....

Edit :
At the time that "Tiberian Sun" were "in" I had up until then utterly refused to play any kind of RTS games, but "Tiberian Sun" took care of that. After I had tried to play "Tiberian Sun" I got into RTS gaming also.

Edit 2 :
The general "GiveAway" of "Tiberian Sun" makes me wonder why GOG.com were not given/offered "Tiberian Sun" to give away for free to their customers - I mean considering that they just signed a deal with EA......

Oh yes. I wasn't aware EA owned those rights, I don't really follow too closely who owns what but Starflight 2 (and 1) would make me so very very very happy.

For all of you craving for "American McGee’s Alice" & "Alice: Madness Returns" at GOG.com then I'll say that I do not think that the chance that we will see them here DRM free any time soon is great (especially NOT at low price!!!) , because I have just seen at EA's own Origin site that you can preorder the "American McGee’s Alice" & "Alice: Madness Returns" as a collection. It is shown at the front page as a flash animation ad.
Else search http://store.origin.com for keyword Alice
or see (more flash) : http://www.ea.com/alice

I have C&C: The FIrst Decade on disc; I've had it since it was new in 2005 or 2006. It's a great collection, all of the titles included in it were optimized to run on Windows XP, but I do remember that every single game on there still required EA (not Westwood) patches to correct some serious bugs, and I don't think that those games run properly (if at all) on Vista and 7. So even though I already own the disc, I would repurchase it if GoG had it for sale, as I doubt that the free versions on the Web will run on Windows 7. I'm not a huge fan of realtime strategy games, but I do make an exception for the War/Star-craft and C&C/Red Alert series (their cinematic cut scenes are a large part of the attraction).
