The biggest announcement in GOG.com's history is a fact! Electronic Arts grants access to its deep back catalogue of classic franchises via yours truly GOG.com!

In a ground-breaking, earthshaking, and jaw-dropping deal we've managed to sign with EA and will be releasing more than 25 legendary classics from the globally renowned publisher. With today’s announcement three widely known and much awaited brands get the revival treatment from GOG.com: Wing Commander: Privateer, Dungeon Keeper and Ultima Underworld 1+2.

We will be adding more than 25 titles from EA over the next few months, so the games will be unveiled gradually, but we can already reveal that the next upcoming titles from this huge deal are: Crusader: No remorse, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and Magic Carpet.

While the agreement between Electronic Arts and GOG.com brings back many acclaimed and well known franchises, it doesn’t include the much anticipated System Shock or Syndicate series at this time. After releasing the first six Electronic Arts classics, we will take a break from the concentrated awesome until later in the summer.
This is GREAT news from EA and GOG.

Don't expect to see Dune or LOTR titles on GOG, GOG would probably need permission from the owners of Dune and LOTR as well as EA as the copyright holder to the games themselves. Same with Bladerunner or anything else based off movies or books.
Same thing for sports titles involving licenced teams, players, leagues, cars (including car brands like Porsche) and other licenced properties

EA titles I would like to see on GOG:
Command & Conquer Renegade
Populous (a Peter Molyneux classic and one of the first true "god games")
Classic Will Wright games like Sim Farm, Sim Tower, Sim Earth etc
Sentinel Worlds I: Future Magic (great fun sci-fi RPG that probably no-one has heard of)
The Bards Tale series (everything I have read indicates that they were published by EA and developed by Interplay, both companies GOG now has deals with so presumably there should be no legal issues if GOG can convince both EA and Interplay to agree to the deal).
I think the GOG model will only survice EULA pushers like EA when there are multiple successful AAA releases on GOG.

SO far there has only been the witcher 2, and it sold more on Steam and retail than it did on GOG I think ..
numbers ?

Anyway, cool for GOG .. any chance to see the full list of 25 games ??
( I still got credit to spend on GOG and would like to see if it's worth waiting )

Don't count on seeing the list. They like to keep it a surprise and it was unusual that they even released the names of the three upcoming releases. We all have to wait in suspense to see what the titles will be.

Even if it would be difficult to secure, I think it'd be great if GoG got the rights to sell Dune 2000, an update over that original RTS game from around 1990 and from which all other RTS games, including the Warcraft and Starcraft ones, derive.

Command & Conquer Renegade was the only FPS set in the C&C universe, and was included back around 2006 in a bundle called Command & Conquer: The First Decade, which consisted of all the C&C games (except for the online-only failure Sole Survivor) published up until that point. One of its features was WinXP compatibility, and I understand that many if not all of the games in that set are difficult or impossible to run in Vista or Windows 7, so even though I have a physical copy (as in store bought, not privately/illegally duplicated), I would definitely buy it from GoG if it would become available.
Thats kind of good news.. that EA is on board. Could have been somebody smaller and not so significant.
WOOOOOOOOOT!!! Just checked my mailbox and...

Alpha Centauri.... ALPHA *FRACKING* CENTAURI is going to be released on GOG!!! \o/

I think I speak for all Sid Meier/Firaxis fans around the world if I say: THANK YOU EA AND GOG!

(One small request: please please please also release Alien Crossfire!!!)

Oh Please please Need for Speed II SE
Unfortunately I think SimTower would prove tricky since if I remember correctly it didn't have a DOS version. I'd *love* to be able to play that game again though. I spent so much time on it as a kid. :P
Awesome news if Wing Commander Privateer is listed. . Especially hope that means we will be getting Privateer 2 the Darkening along with the other Wing Commander games. Have WC3&4 on PS1 but would love to play it on my computer. Have the original crusader No Regret or Remorse whichever was the first one. as well but have a heck of time getting it to run even in compatibilty mode.

All and all awesome news.

rustinpeace91: Im sorry, but i cannot applaud this, and i can no longer support you either. GOG once showed me that you could actually get your moneys worth for games. That you could receive the full rights to a game, play it whenever you want, and mod it whenever you want without turning to piracy. that maybe the game industry was not dead after all. This spells the end for GOG, i know people will say that I am being negative and jumping to conclusions, but these conclusions are supported by historical evidence. EA is a gaming cancer, they consume everything they come in contact with, permeating it with DRM scams, unfinished products and high prices. They are the main reason for the death of PC gaming and a key motivator in the piracy epidemic. People said not to worry when EA bought westwood, now look what happened. People said "not to worry" when EA and Bioware began working together, now look what happened. Remember how bioware said that they were "in control" of what was going on? yeah right. Sorry guys, i really do enjoy my copy of Fallout 2 and Commandos 2 that i bought from you, but as far as im concerned, you're a ghost already.

PS: i take comfort in the fact that you cannot lock me out of my games for saying this
Great post and rep for you.

And yes Dragobr he knows that EA hasn't got GoG yet but as he said EA is PC gaming cancer and now they got there foot in the door here watch out GoG may become EA subsidiary.

Also have you all noticed to response from GoG.com so to me this is saying EA's EULA is in full force here at GoG.com and again EA if any one would sue if they feel it gives them an edge...

Yeah your right meant to say since Wing Commander Privateer is listed and available hopefully this means the rest of the stuff I mentioned will come out as well.
Pleased to hear that some of the old EA catalogue is coming to GOG. I have a bunch of old now EA games to play (Dungeon Keeper, Wing Commander 4?, Blade Runner) but I will support a few of the releases along the way (hopefully you'll bring the older Wing Commanders, played WC 1 on a 286 PC and on my Amiga and would love to play its expansions and later games).

Very pleased to see Crusader: No Remorse there and hopefully No Regret will follow along too. Great games that I really enjoyed playing back in the day and I still listen to the music from the games to this day (music files are basically MOD files).

I remember that. It was the reason I got into MOD files. I remember using those in Quake Supers deathmatches as background music. Good times!
