GOG.com's Agreement with Team 17 ‘Worms Up’ the Cold Days of January.

2012 will be filled with great new things coming to GOG.com, and first up, we’re expanding our catalog with some of the tremendous Team 17's classic titles.

Team 17's offerings on GOG.com start with the most lovable (and lethal) annelids of the gaming world in the unforgettable and quintessential tactical artillery shooter Worms United – a special edition of Worms 1 with the expansion Worms Reinforcements for $5.99. We’re not just giving you one game today, though. You will also want to use some heavy weaponry to fight a different kind of invertebrates--the squicky space alien kind--in Alien Breed and Alien Breed Tower Assault available now for just $5.99 as well.

Today's releases should keep you busy while we bring some more goodness from Team 17 in the next week: Superfrog and World Rally Fever: Born on the Road. We’ll be bringing you more games from their catalog later on this year.

Pick up Worms United and Alien Breed + Alien Breed: Tower Assault for just $5.99 each today on GOG.com!

GameRager: Bah, it was pretty funny and yer just picky. :p

:)

(Or one of those adult/childish humor game hating snobs, which is even worse.)

serpantino: Oh yeah of course. That's why I own all the VGA editions of the older Leisure Suit Larry games (Except 4 ^_-) :P and own Duke Nukem 3D on 3 different formats along with Bulletstorm, Shadows of the Damned & god knows what else that comes under adult humour. I'm all for the humour.
As for picky... the game was 90% dull, repetitive minigames with little variety in them & the game's humour felt tired compared to the older games. Maybe you were so desperate to score with the women in there and see a bit of bush in the uncut version that you overlooked how bad the game was (see? I can make groundless suppositions too)
I never explicitly said you were the latter, which is why I worded it as such at the end there.

(Maybe in hindsight I should've added the word possibly between or and one in the last line.)

And yeah picky seems right........many people like little minigames(look at all the hidden object games and casual stuff people play all the time and love) and senseless humor.

And c'mon....we don't always have to debate on a college level all the time here do we? Where's the fun in that? :)

Just dropping down to your level :). There's nothing picky about not liking a game that is nothing like it's forebearers. I'm fine with puzzle games and decent minigames but it wasn't what I expected from the series at all. Some of it was good but it was ultimately tedious and the minigames really weren't enjoyable and were mostly exceptionally basic.

You seem to like repressing other people's opinions as apparently I'm either picky or hate adult humour because I didn't like the game. Maybe it was meant in jest but this is a bad habit of yours and you seem to have a penchant for rubbing people up the wrong way or inciting and then acting shocked.
Welcome to GOG Team 17! I just read some reviews on the Superfrog game page. Is it possible to actually finish the game? Is the game broken :(

1. To me it seems picky.....you are free to not see it that way but that's how it appears to me.

2. Where was I repressing your opinion? I said how I felt about your opinion. I seriously think you're overreacting here if you think that I was doing that.

Did you perhaps stop to think for a minute if you were overeacting to what I wrote and I wasn't trying to be as rude as you thought?

(As for rubbing people the wrong way......as I said many times here I am usually blunt when I speak, and I sometimes crack a joke from time to time[sometimes even in the same post]. This may lead to me looking like a louse to some but this is just how I am. I also usually am not trying to incite regardless if people think I am trying to. I don't sign in every day thinking "How can I ruin everyone's day today?" or anything like that.)

1. You sure do love using bullet points when they're unnecessary.... you could've added the next line as 3 because having 2 is just silly. Using bullet points doesn't hammer your points home any better or make them seem more factual.

2. You throw negative & critical comments if someone's opinion doesn't match your own and you push them in a factual context. Instead of "I think you're picky" it was "You're either picky or...." This started out with me being kind enough to answer your question.

3. I used bullet points, now I feel like my post has more merit.

4. I'm bored of you now and you don't need me making you look like even more of a fool, you do that well enough yourself.

1. I do it because i'm partially OCD and it helps me gather my thoughts. Did you really have to poke fun at it? Why even bring them up in regards to what I said to you overall?

2. If I made it seem that way(Like I was trying to push them as facts) I apologize. I was trying to just state my opinion as an opinion and messed it up in that regard.

As for negative and critical comments, well not every comment on the internet is going to be a good one now is it? :\

3. Read reply 1 again.

4. And you seem to act like someone pissed in your cereal and kicked your puppy whenever someone posts something you don't like, it seems. All I did was say you were picky(to me) and possibly a bit prudish(again to me)....and I was mostly kidding on the prudish part. If it bothered you you could've just said that and left it at that.....instead you get defensive and go off on a tangent(correct term?).
-----------------------------

Now can we please get back ontopic? Question: Anyone have any opinions on Superfrog as a 2d platformer? Is it any good? How does it measure up to games like Commander Keen/etc?

yyahoo: Pre-VGA and sound blaster on the PC, the Amiga had vastly superior specs and the devs programmed their projects to take advantage of it. There was nothing subjective about it.
avatar
GameRager: Superior specs or no, if one likes them(game titles on one system versus another/etc) or not or not IS subjective.
Whatever dude, like others, I bore of communicating with you...

I just read them too, and it seems that unless GOG has fixed it or Team 17 patched it then the game is uncompletable because the DOS version has a fatal bug.

Why? Because of my comment/it's wording or what I said to Serpantino/his comments about me???

I think I made a very polite reply in your case, at any rate, and was being 100% honest in what I said. :\

What bug? This game looks good from the game card and i'd hate to not be able to play it properly.

Apparently the company that did the DOS port messed up the way one of the powerups works. This makes the DOS version uncompletable unless it's been patched in some way.

How does a powerup not working make the game uncompleteble?(Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post spoilers in this thread for others to read.)
DOS version is for sure possible to complete.

SLP2000: DOS version is for sure possible to complete.
Might want to comment on those damning reviews then.

EDIT: Apparently it's a hell of a lot more difficult that it was supposed to be but it's possible.

It's not really much more difficult, it's just that it's not possible to visit some places. But they are not required to finish the game.

I hope someone fixes it then, because if I play a game like that I want to be able to visit all areas if possible.
