I like this one by Carl Sagan:

By the way, the author I quoted has a ton of wonderful excerpts from his books that are both insightful and a joy to read. I'd post more if you want. Incidentally, the book where the quote was taken from is about a boy becoming gradually involved in a book's history and becoming embroiled in a noir-ish adventure. Just wonderful! :)
