What happens with the Devolver ports from now on? Can anyone provide info on that? :)
Don't worry guys, even if Duke Nukem 3D gets removed from our accounts, at least we aren't Anthony Burch.

R8V9F5A2: Having full rights is probably a good idea since Gearbox only seems to do really well with licenses they actually own, or at least when they don't have to collaborate with other people.

If Gearbox would have had the sole license for ACM and DNF I think they would have come up with more commercially successful games, because regardless of your opinions on Borderlands these games certainly seem to be very popular and sell really well compared to other shooters. Personally the Gearbox games I've enjoyed the most were the Brothers in Arms games and ACM, not the Borderlands games.

I did not know Gearbox were so hostile towards the DRM-free concept. The revelations on this thread really surprised me.
To be fair, I think Duke Nukem Forever was fairly successful. People were quick to jump on it but a lot of people I know bought and enjoyed it.

thejimz: Here's hoping they can make another Duke game as good as their last one.

(Sarcasm.)
Well Forever was mostly salvaged from what 3D Realms had done. It would have needed a ton of more money and atleast year more in development in order to be turned into at least an okay game. While it can be argued if it ever was sensible for Gearbox to try and salvage the wreck that was Forever, it can't be argied that 3D Realms dropped the ball with the series a long time ago after they were unable to get that game finished.

ReynardFox: That's pretty much what happened yeah.

rtcvb32: Wait... What??

Now i need to read the article in the OP... But that sounds totally nuts... Not only that, illegal (intentionally misrepresenting a product, in this case 3D realms)
It was George Broussard final, desperate attempt to get more money to cover his poker depts.

Yeah, I bought and enjoyed it on the x360. I'd buy it again if it showed up here.

It fairly amused the dirty little boy inside me lol. Penis bugs, throwing poop and pig cops heads expanding and exploding. Great stuff.

Yeah, sales figures won't stop our "lovely" gaming media from trash-talking games, anything to make themselves look authoritative and relevant. Judging by their melodramatic reactions I thought DNF would do terribly.
I've played it myself and thought it was fun enough for an action game, I certainly don't regret buying it.

hey I bought it day one just for that awesome bust lol. I don't regret it either. The expansion pack was well worth it. It was hilarious. If that expansion is going to be the quality of Gearbox's game then I'm in day one.

ReynardFox: Looks like Gearbox has won out and now owns the Duke Nukem franchise wholesale, does anyone know what that means for GOG?

We're going to lose the Duke soon aren't we? :/
This. If this happens. I want the GOG officials to give us an early warning a/b the Duke Nukem games is about to be removed. I would like to hear an GOG representative to give a statement about this.

It could always be worse.

Unless you're Anthony Burch.
