FInal update of the year,

Went back and beat Ys Origin one last time with Toal, to fight the true final boss. He also had the most story (while Yunica had the least). That's the problem with the game, you have to play through it three times to get the whole story and there's minimal changes in gameplay, as well as the postgame content being grindy.

And I enjoyed New Super Mario Bros. 2 a lot more than I expected to (I wasn't actually interested in buying it and probably wouldn't have if not for a b2g1 free sale). I liked the level design, pacing, and powerups a lot more than NSMBW. Though the gimmick is a bit out of place, would make more sense in a Wario game. And it was a bit too easy, especially when you probably get a one up every couple of minutes without even trying due to coins all over the place.

Finally, I was playing almost to the last minute, but I beat Code of Princess. A bit disappointing for a spiritual followup to Guardian Heroes. Lacked the branches and such that GH had, and was a bit slower paced. Story was mostly silly, and had a tendency to toss out plot twists out of nowhere and then act like everyone knew it all along. Maybe it would come up sooner if I played the other character's storylines.

so final list:

Dark Lord
Super Robot Wars OG2
Ys 4: Mask of the Sun
Castlevania
Final Fantasy 4 Interlude
Duke Nukem 3d
Jamestown
Blocks That Matter

Game of the Year: Batman: Arkham City

Worst game played this year: Shadowground

Biggest surprise of the Year: Hmm, Blood probably. I was surprised how good it is. Otherwise I usually got what I expected.

Biggest disappointment of the Year: XIII (Among unfinished games it would be Shadow Warrior. I was surprised how much worse is it than Blood)

I do wonder where you guys actually find the time to play let alone finish so many games? :)
Finished the main story line in Dark Souls. Went for the somewhat less bad ending :D. Now I am working on the DLC part and basically having people invade me so I can farm them for souls and humanity :D

We steal time from other people. It's why you never seem to have time for games. Parents, hobbyists and people who work a lot of overtime are prime targets.
Compared to some people on this forum, I apparently really don't game very much. My final list, with (very) brief impressions.

1. Persona (PSP) -- Tedious
2. Astonishia Story (PSP) -- Horribly translated, all around mediocre
3. Mass Effect 3 -- Great
4. Clive Barker’s Jericho -- Well, it tried
5. Amnesia: The Dark Descent -- Great
6. Super Mario World (DS) -- A classic, of course
7. Two Worlds -- Hm, whatever
8. Two Worlds II -- Liked this a little better
9. Two Worlds II: Pirates of the Flying Fortress -- Lousy
10. MacGuffin’s Curse -- Cute puzzle game
11. Portal -- Brilliant
12. Portal 2 -- Brilliant
13. Dead Space -- Fun shooter. Not scary
14. Sam and Max 106 - 204 -- Repetitive and irritating
15. Escape Goat -- Great indie game
16. Ultima 1 -- They don't make games like this anymore! Because it's terrible and nobody would play it if they did.
17. Home -- Almost too short to list. Very atmospheric
18. Max Payne -- It's got atmosphere. Fun game play, less so.
19. Risen -- Pretty OK! Irritating combat, really irritating last boss
20. Baldur’s Gate + expansion -- Not as good as you'd think, listening to people rave
21. Divine Divinity -- Overstayed its welcome
22. Faery: Legends of Avalon -- Mediocre
23. Bioshock -- This is it? This is the amazing classic that scored a 96% on Metacritic? How? Why?
