Big thanks to everyone for chiming in with their opinion, it really helped us greatly to see the overall sentiment regarding the subject.

After consideration we have decided that from now on all threads regarding any kind of delisting will be stickied, starting from the time of the announcement to the time when said delisting actually happens. After that, they will be un-stickied.
With this we hope to increase the visibility for everyone interested, so that they can finalise their purchase before the product disappears from our storefront.

While I'm here, I'd also like to reassure you that we will let you know about delistings as soon as we receive the information from the publisher (or otherwise) ourselves.

I am also planning on cleaning up the sticky list as it is a bit cluttered right now, but that will come at a later date.

If you got any questions, let me know!

A sticky is definitely needed. I missed the last delisting and would have absolutely purchased that title if I had seen a sticky.

They were stickied, but the posts only appeared a couple of hours before the games were delisted, so very short window of opportunity there.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: No, you should not Sticky it.

Because all that Stickying-it actually accomplishes is to make the the Delisting announcement become effectively invisible to most of GOG's forum readers, who naturally become acclimated always to subconsciously ignore all "Sticky" threads.

Therefore, by "Stickying" delisting announcements, doing that is just as bad as if GOG had made no delisting announcement at all.

By the same token, this thread should not be Stickyed either, since it's current status as a Sticky thread carries all those exact same problems.

You are going to receive answers from a sample that has become biased due to your question only appearing to those few GOG users who have consciously trained themselves always to look at Sticky threads, even though doing that runs contrary the natural automatic reaction to subconsciously ignore them...which is what the majority of GOG forum readers will naturally do.

That is to say, the majority of GOG users who would answer the OP's question with "Don't Sticky" will be unable to give that answer, because they are never going to see this thread, and they are never going to know GOG was asking for their opinion about that, because GOG made this thread become effectively invisible to them by Stickying it.

It's just a pure fluke that I happened to even see this thread, since there is a 99%+ chance I wouldn't have with it being a Sticky.

Since GOG started implementing the horrible policy to "Sticky" delisting announcements, I've never actually seen those announcements until after GOG de-Stickied them, after the game had already been removed off the store.

Whereas before GOG implemented the horrible policy to "Sticky" delisting announcements, I always saw most or all of the delisting announcements.

No doubt many/most other GOG users are in that same exact boat.

Actually, yes it is hard, and it's also a colossal waste of the customer's time and energy too.

For example, there are currently a ludicrously high number of nine Sticky threads on this board.

Expecting GOG customers to manually & painstakingly scan their eyes over 9-10 Sticky threads every time they come to the GOG forum is very unreasonable and that would also be very aggravating & tedious to do.

Scanning over all Sticky threads everytime one comes to the forum would be a reasonable idea if GOG only had a small, reasonable amount of Sticky threads, which it never does.

Reasonable would be no more than 3 Sticky threads ever on this board at the same time, at the very max, i.e. one Sticky for forum rules, one Sticky for delisting announcements, one Sticky for another possible important announcement by GOG.

But no way that idea to train yourself to look at all Sticky threads is reasonable if GOG persists in its tradition of Stickying a high number of useless & irrelevant threads that in no way need to be Stickied.
Most? Don't project yourself on everyone dude. You found it, and so did everyone else in this thread.
I realize this is a belated post, but I would prefer to have one centralized, stickied thread for all delisting announcement postings (with no replies to announcements in that thread, just the announcements themselves). If any titles removed from sale are later republished on GOG, their delisting announcements can be removed from the stickied thread. If anyone wants to discuss a particular delisting, that person can create a separate, non-stickied thread for that purpose.

It would be above and beyond good customer service, and I don't expect it, but it would be great if an email could be sent to people who have a soon-to-be-removed-from-sale item on their GOG wishlists. Also, some people would probably appreciate the ability to opt out of said email.

You will see a backlash from people that didnt see this thread, or the others BECAUSE they were stickied. Well done! :/
This thread was never about arguing, it was a simple vote and "the people's will" is quite clear.

How can you not see the thread?

It's at the top of the page, so it's not lost in a sea of other posts.
And if you haven't read it yet, it shows up in bold, so it stands out.

Actually its buried under years of favourited threads. Secondly having been here for so long I automatically scroll past stickies.

1. 9 stickies is hardly a lot to look at. So they are by no means buried. Especially when you look at the sea of non-sticky threads underneath.

2. I've been here longer than you, and I still find the sticky threads useful, and easy to find... because they're at the top.

3. Again... if there's a new sticky you haven't read, it shows up in bold so it stands out, so you can't miss it.

As I said - BURIED under YEARS or favourited threads - currently about 50 of them at least. Don't respond again please, you are just making yourself look ignorant.

I'm the ignorant one? Because I can navigate the forums? Because I can scroll to the top of the page? Because I don't pretend that having stickies at the top is the end of the world? Because I've pointed out that unread stickies are in bold so they stand out?

Clearly you can get to the forum page, so it's not buried. And it's a conscious choice to scroll past the stickies - noone is making you do that.

Don't bother embarrassing yourself anymore by replying.
Oh FFS. Some people only read the words they want to. I'm outta here.
What I don't get about this "stickies are under favorites" argument is how does that make them less visible than non-stickies, which are under favorites AND stickies.

Still, I guess those who focus on favorited threads should advocate for a single delisting thread, which then they'll be able to add to favorites and it won't matter whether it's stickied or not. (For the forum otherwise, a non-sticky single thread would be entirely pointless, mind you.)
wouldn't mind have this one sticky lol
sticky bandits agree too!

i like to buy games the last second bevor they get thrown out of the catalog .. very arousing

I would like to greet all the tasty breads of the world at this opportunity. I love you too! Mustache must be so proud of your mustard. But remember, for your account and risk I have no mist.

I... never saw this thread. Because it's a sticky.

(-‸ლ)

Didn't it occur to you that making this thread sticky was mostly going to attract replies from people who would prefer the threads to be sticky?
The entire argument against stickying the threads is that it makes them 'invisible' to a lot of us, so most of us probably didn't know this discussion was even happening.

Your sample was biased by your methods.

As you may be able to guess, I am strongly in the "unlikely to see it if stickied" camp. Would it be possible to make stickies appear above favourited threads? That would solve the issue for me. Or, as long as all the delistings are posted in a single sticky thread I can favourite that.

Ueber: This. One Sticky-Thread.
A consolidated Sticky-Delisting-Thread would make it much easier, as you only need to add it to your favourites and see if somebody posted something.
This would work for me. Sad to see I missed the discussion.
