So i can only get the latest game updates by going online with GOG Galaxy now... Might as well just buy everything on Steam if we are going to be actively forced to use Galaxy.

Is this going to be a regular thing with GOG now, forcing players to update via Galaxy client?

It's just a delay! For now...
I knew that the duplicated Galaxy-less installers would have had some problem.. -_-'
the most funny thing for me as a person who knows how IT works is when they say it's because they have to do extra work.
I thought one of the point of Galaxy was to get updates out to people sooner since so many people were complaining about that, and since installers are manually done, they were inevitably going to lag behind. Plus, is anyone even in the GOG office still?

Granted, it boggle my mind why GOG haven't implemented auto-update scripts to put new patches into the installers rather than doing it by hand, but I don't see why people are surprised by this. Also, I don't think it's Galaxy ONLY, it's Galaxy FIRST.

I guess my question would be, would most people rather wait a few days or weeks and have everything at once, or have Galaxy first and installers later?
If you want to rant, at least do it right, since the patch on that pic of yours is already availible via browser. Its the next one 2.3 thats missing untill Monday.
If you are surprised updates show on galaxy first, you've been sleeping for afew years already. And if you cant live without the update untill monday, you should seek help. And if you expect updates to show at the same time on galaxy and the website, keep on dreaming

No what tfishell said is 100% correct. Devs can release patches to Galaxy without ANY input from GOG. This means Galaxy will get patches quicker than standalone installers. This will be updated manually by GOG later on (usually within a few days) of releasing on Galaxy.

It's already a trend, so barring a change in course, the answer is yes.

We are not doing it by hand. Both Stardock games are big with multiple languages, DLCs (with languages) etc. New version of Ashes alone requires 42 offline installers. Automated process means you have *less* control when it comes to workarounds and 'quick fixes'. I cannot put up a single patch and disregard the rest.

And no, no one is in the office at this hour and honestly? I wasn't even forced to push that online update. It was my own decision to put it up earlier.

Really, folks - I have no problem with dutifully waiting until both versions are done and tested. Just no one will play the updated game over the weekend.

Nothing. Office hours are done so I'm working remotely. ;)

No reason to punish Galaxy users, but what's going on with incremental patches for offline installers?

Thanks for your help and info, I'll try to remember that the installers are now automated. I get the sense you're getting too old for this shit. ;) I assumed, since I'm in the Western US now and Poland was ahead time-wise, that GOG offices were closed.

Unrelated to this, I'm really hope we'll see some results from the dgVoodoo partnership soon. It'll be great to see classic 3D games that previously weren't supported past Win 7 get modern support, especially bestsellers like Populous 3.

They are generated alongside everything else, if possible / if it makes sense. If patch would almost the size of a whole game, then it's rather pointless. If patch cannot be generated for some technical reason, it's skipped and the whole process needs to be tweaked a bit to make it work (hopefully) next time.

I cannot really comment on something that was never officially announced by GOG. It's not my area and I'm not even getting into this discussion.

OK, and thanks for the reply.
