I launched it and it told me files are missing I should reinstall it. Then I launched the installer but it says "galaxy is already installed. the installation will now close". Wonderful, no option to repair.

Then I uninstalled the client and guess what.. it deleted the WHOLE Galaxy folder INCLUDING all installed games?!?!?!
Jesus, who is testing this client?! Either give us an repair option when it claims for a reinstall OR stop deleting the whole folder when there are fiels that dont belong to the client, makes sense doesn't it?!

Now I have to download over hundred of GB and find and install all mods I had installed and some games also lost the savegames because they are stored in the installation folder of the game which got deleted by the Galaxy client.

Thanks!
WE are testing the client

its an half done under cooked barely ready for prime time pre alpha pretending to be a beta
and we have the dubious honor of beta testing this heap if we chose to do so
thankfully its optional

Sadly not the first time we read about this. In it's current state they never should have released the client with Witcher 3 and certainly shouldn't have it plastered for use all over their website/account pages since.

Well, rather, they should have had it ready before Witcher 3 came out, since it's a great opportunity to proliferate use of your client of course, but it just wasn't.

quite frankly this piece of crap shouldnt have been released untill that cyberpunk game of theirs
trying to ride the wave of publicity is great and all
but as it is the unreliable and deplorable state of the client is just hurting gog's image not improving it
Don't get me wrong. I like GoG and it's nothing personal. But when an uninstall of the client deletes my whole game library, you might understand that it makes me VERY being pissed off.

There is no sense it does this without a warning. Nearly every other uninstaller keeps files that don't belong to the original software.

This is not a rare bug that happens, this is something that someone should have seen during testing phase.

Was the client up to date, pretty sure this issue was suppose to be fixed now.

Even more frankly, it should never be released.
Or the frankliest, it should never have been made.

it should be pulled back gog should apologise profusely
giver us all a free game

but i doubt that will happen
Yet another reason why I'm waiting for a finished version to appear. What a nightmare.

I think they made a mistake releasing you. :P

I hope you don't actually believe what you're saying. Why the hell shouldn't a useful piece of software ever be released? That's like saying: "Computers should never have been released because I am completely fine with a typewriter."

Wolfszorn: *snip*
It's called Beta for a reason.

because right now its not usefull
its an unfinished train wreck that doesnt even have the barest minimum fo features and wipes entire libraries on a whim
thats why it shouldnt have been released
its not ready for prime time yet

but no in a rush to release it along side the witcher 3 this train wreck got pushed out thankfully it is still optional
but this thing should be pulled back and fixed when its actually out of pre alpha

snowkatt: snip
I completely agree with you but I don't agree with Smannesman that Galaxy should "never" be released. :)

i am indifferent about that
im glad its optional

but as it is galaxy is a train wreck or if you prefer an galaxy thast on the verge of imploding
and having this unfinished disaster that can wipe your entire library on a whim plastered all over the webshop is not doing gog any favors at the moment

ill wait for the 1.1 version

So, you're not completely indifferent about that, are you. ;)
But even if you are it will have functions some people will really appreciate.

Even though Galaxy has intolerable bugs possibly only a few people are affected by them, which means that all in all GOG might still have done themselves a favour by releasing Galaxy.

Me, too.
