The familiar worlds like you’ve never seen before.

Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire and Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams are available now on GOG.com for free, courtesy of GOG.com and Electronic Arts.

Lord British presents two adventures you would never think are possible in Ultima universe. Players of the Ultima series may recall that the black moonstone the Avatar found at the start of Ultima 6 can be used to teleport you anyplace and anytime. That is why ORIGIN Systems have, using the Ultima 6 engine, sent the gamers worldwide on two unexpected journeys in both space and time.

First, the Avatar travels to the time-lost land of Eodon, where dinosaurs still rule and ancient mysteries abound. Basically, Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire is Ultima meets The Lost World with simplified RPG elements; it’s a fun jungle epic with a change in pace you will welcome with open arms. If you’ve never played any Ultima games, The Savage Empire is a good place to start. Explore jungles and wastelands, cross lava flows, encounter stone-age tribes, and battle the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex right now for the unbeatable price of absolutely zilch.

Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams takes the Avatar and his friend Dr Spector to the year 1893 to witness a launch of a space cannon aimed at Mars. No, you haven’t forgotten some important lessons from history--this is an alternate universe version of Earth, but you will definitely recognise a lot of the people in it. You will interact with many historical figures as Marie Curie, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Theodore Roosvelt, H.G Wells, and dozens more. After reaching Mars, you will have to survive the hostile environment and battle strange plants and monsters as you explore the surface of Mars. Enjoy this historical world of adventure, completely free of charge and free of any DRM only on your favorite distribution platfrom, GOG.com.

Check out these free games, but also be sure to check out the rest of the Ultima series, if you haven’t gotten in on GOG.com yet, because there are thousands of hours of incredible RPG goodness locked away in these titles, and it would be a shame to miss a single minute of it.

Those release would not be possible without help from Joe Garrity, and Steven "Xe Dragon" Dengler, Marc "Sergorn Dragon" Charlot, and Pix. Thanks!
This is why GOG is the best, period.
I was going to add both games to my wish list till I looked up some reviews (out side GoG ones). Then I noted the 'Add game now' button and a was shocked to see it free but happy.

TYVM for having a free game now and then (and a few old ones I love and can't get to run right lol).
Thanks for the free games. Now can you release GoG cards so I can buy the games that aren't free? Thanks.
Holy S*** GOG! This came totally from the left field, unexpected. Thanks for both the Worlds of Ultima games.

My favourite.

Thanks GOG <3
Thank you. :)

You're the best place to download games on the internet, period.
Meh I don't care... wait... FREE? WHYTHANKYOUVERYMUCH! :D
This looks like a good way of getting into the Ultima series in a somewhat more accessible way than IV. Thanks muchly for the awesome free stuff. :D

One question: Does anyone have a list of controls or an intro tutorial or some such? I can't find anything in the manuals and I'm not entirely sure how to save or do some other stuff (like switch items between party members or use items like the crowbar on stuff).

EDIT: It says I have to run INSTALL to delete my old character and make a new one. How do I do that with the GOG version?

EDIT2: I think I've figured out most of the controls and such, so nevermind that. Didn't realize you could use the action command thingies in your inventory. Any tips would be appreciated though. :) One last thing: Is there a way of looking at the stats of an item?

Thank you GOG, you guys really know how to keep your customers coming back daily. Cool deals, cool community and the occasional free game. At this point this is my favorite site on the web.
Very nice surprise. Thanks, GOG.
My love affair with GoG continues...

Well you can run install outside of dosbox just go into the games directory and run install, it works for me
Both Worlds of Ultima? Free? On a MONDAY? GOG just scored big time - in a very profound manner.

I guess all GOG needs now is Ultima IX to finish the series.
The Savage Empire is one of my favourite games of all time. Thanks GOG!
Nice gift again, GOG team! I never played Ultima before, but I will check them, both are using my favorite sci-fi themes: Dinosaurs and Mars! :)
Since I finished and enjoyed Beneat a Steel Sky I know old school graphics won't bother me.
