It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Here's a huge list that somebody made of a ton of free games on the internet. Can't remember where I learned about this from, it might have been on these forums, actually.

Arh crap, I had somehow forgotten to paste in the Shooter and Strategy categories. They're up now

Clicking on your link doesn't work, this should fix it:

Anyway, great find! :)

Lhademmor, you should make it a rule that from now on everyone who posts more suggestions has to name a category to put the link in. Much easier for you that way. :)

Regarding the "MMORPG/Roleplaying" section:

These links might need to be fixed:
9 Dragons: Alternative link
Archlord: Alternative link

Kingdom of Loathing
Lord of Ultima
Myst Online: URU
... all require account creation but are still missing the footnote [1].

The following can be discriminated from MMORPGs and either put under the already existing heading "RPGs (not MMO)" or even further sorted into

J-RPGs

Super Columbine Massacre RPG

RPGs (Rogue-like)

ADOM
Castle of the Winds
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
Gearhead
Incursion

If a Rogue-like RPGs category is created, Desktop Dungeons might fit in, too (it's not a typical rogue-like RPG but still close enough).

Also, I haven't played The Spirit Engine 1 & 2 yet, but from what I know about these games, I'd file them under non-MMO RPGs (more specifically J-RPGs) instead of Strategy.

From the category "Action / Adventure / Battle / Platform", the title Urban Dead seems to be more suited to the MMO RPG category, while Dink Smallwood would belong to the non-MMO RPGs. Bitworld might pass off for an Action RPG, although it's hard to draw the line between Action and RPG here. And the Chzo Mythos is a series of Point & Click adventures.

As for the Adventures ( Point & Click, Interactive Fiction ...):

Currently the links for Drascula and Flight of the Amazon Queen point to DotEmu and therefor account creation ([1]) is required to download them. Alternatively, one could also download them directly from the ScummVM website though (the same applies to Beneath A Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress).

The Silver Lining might require account creation, too, if you get the games directly from the developer's website.

It looks like a Zelda clone to me? And so far Zelda Classic is also in the "Action/Adventure" genre, so I figure they belong there?

I've implemented all of your other suggestions - thanks a lot!
Suggestion for the MMORPG Section:

Meridian 59

The original MMORPG, now free and back in the hands of the original creators. Here is the website: http://www.meridian59.com/
Juggernaut is a free text-based MMO with graphics powered by Unity. The difference with this game amongst others is that the turn-based battles are controlled by the player and have great animations and effects.

Drakensang Online is essentially a high quality graphics browser-based MMO close to Diablo or Torchlight.

1916 - Der Unbekannte Krieg is another Unity game but with a twisted theme. The goal is to navigate a trench to get to a ladder while avoiding....monsters, if you can call them that. Enjoy :)
Thanks Lhademmor, very nice of you updating the list.

I would suggest creating a section for Source Ports/Engines too.
I'm a great fan of the point & click adventures by Ben304. They're all quite short, more like a coffee break diversion, but feature beautifully drawn old-school graphics and very cool music, and the stories and characters are sweet, too. Rather than list all of them, I'm going to provide a link to his blog where they can be downloaded for free:

My personal favorite is "!" because of its original simplistic concept and because of the hilarious "boss battle", he he (I won't spoil it for you, see for yourself). However, the're all good, each in its own way.

Bravo for taking on such a task for us to enjoy these games again or ot simply look at what we may have not known before.

Kinda surprised this one hasn't been placed in either this or the old list yet. If you haven't heard of "the white chamber" (yes, it's not capitalized), then know that it's an anime-styled horror-themed point-and-click adventure game. Pretty interesting little game, though it's rather short.
I didn't see this one, but there is a of games made with the Spring RTS engine, one of which called [url=http://www.indiedb.com/games/the-cursed]The Cursed looks very promising.

I don't quite understand this. What do you mean "Source Ports"? Games using Valve's Source engine? Or games ported from other platforms?

It was already there - under "Uncategorized" as I had no idea what to call it. Maybe there should be a section for Engines
Hm, I'd be happier with putting the P&C adventures by Ben304 under the Adventures category. They're quite hidden in the developers section, I doubt anyone will look for them there, especially if they don't know who Ben304 is ...

It's similar to the "Chzo Mythos (several games)" entry already filed under Adventures, that actually leads to the developer's website, too. You could list them as "Ben304 collection (several games)" or as "Airwave, Annie Android, Featherweight etc. (several games by Ben304)".
low rated
Source ports/engines are programs used to run older games(provided you own them and have their data files) on newer OSs and in higher resolutions/etc....some are even released with/are freeware renamed recompiles of older games using publicly released source code for the original games.
