Krypsyn: Nope. Adaliabooks should definitely not be in the 'Not Voting' category.
avatar
trentonlf: Why is that?
Because he voted for mchack in post 197.

trentonlf: Why is that?

Krypsyn: Because he voted for mchack in post 197.
I realized my mistake after I posted. I was taking your comment as people not voting for adaliabooks should be
So, first things first.
Lift, I'm loving this set up. The more I think of the ins and outs of it the more layers I find.
I want to talk about the various strategies and options but I think it helps scum more than town so I'll save it till after the game.

avatar
ZFR: Yeah, I read up on it and from what I've seen no-lynch is almost never a good solution.

Vote: adaliabooks
avatar
Leonard03: Interesting vote.
Is it? You're voting me... why is ZFR's vote interesting? Presumably you find me scummy enough to vote so why shouldn't ZFR?
Interesting indeed...

avatar
HypersomniacLive: On a side note, I suggest you read flubbucket's game #25.
avatar
mchack: well, it hasn't occured to me until you mentioned it. will read game #25 when I have the time. right now I'll try and reread this one.
Long story short, the fact there were two scum teams was hidden for pretty much the entire game because other than one night where one team held their shot and the night one scum team killed off the other they NK'd the same person every night.
So not quite as unlikely as you'd think.

And now for mchack;

First point was as already mentioned, his RVS seemed very eager, including placing votes on wagons (Leonard, though I admit I did start that wagon with my joking suggestion to lynch him I didn't particularly expect anyone to join it. Bookwyrm or even trent I might have expected, but when it was mchack that raised my eyebrows)
Second point, he responded to Krypsyn's vote on him with a little more concern then.. well anyone else seemed to have for any vote so far. He was jokey but it definitely seemed like trying to find out what Krypsyn might have had on him.

avatar
dedoporno: The second mutant? Why not the second cyborg or just scum? Why mutant specifically?
avatar
mchack: well I think I established that wyrm is bound to be a mutant (because of the worms) so if krypsyn is a vote slave of wyrm, that would mean he's the second mutant.
Anyway... aren't we still in RVS? I'm mostly making jokes, I don't have any serious fos's or votes yet...
And I think this might have been a genuine slip. He knows Krypsyn's not a cyborg because he is, so asks him if he is a mutant. The response to dedo's prod seems a bit desperate to me too.

Fourth point comes after my first suggestion he might be scum. His defence is quite impassioned and he also potentially pockets me by saying he thinks I'm town, both things I expect of scum and not so much from town.
He then reinforces this after I actually vote for him.

And everything since has been quite overly defensive, particularly considering he only has two votes and one of them is by the person currently closest to lynch.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: I don't think I understand. Please elaborate.
Pretty sure a hacker won't end up being the lynch, so it's either a Townie or scum. If it's scum we're golden, but if it's Townie, despite it's generally bad for us, it leaves the scum with fewer good targets for conversion.
avatar
mchack: As for the omgus thing, well you sure like to point out lamist behaviour, but I've not yet gotten the hang of avoiding that yet. It's the truth and town should never lie, so I try to do that. that's it really. And I've seen it in other players where you haven't pointed it out.
avatar
dedoporno: Sure, stating an obvious fact does count as telling the truth, but no one accused you of lying, right?
well, the lamist thing isn't an obvious thing unless you (dedo) are scum, then it's obvious for you that I'm not in your team at least, else it isn't obvious for anyone, so well worth pointing out. As for the "no omgus vote from me", that I left out. true.

avatar
mchack: And I've seen it in other players where you haven't pointed it out.
avatar
dedoporno: Why didn't you when it got your attention?
as I said before, stating you are town is not something I view as particularly scummy. But since you do (you pointed out a sentence from me before in this game #142), I thought you should at least be fair and do it for everyone. Though in retrospect after having skimmed the whole thread I only found that adalia said he's human twice - nothing about being town, specifically.

avatar
dedoporno: Anyway, a few weeks ago my nephew got 3.5 score score on a pop quiz in math class (that's just below average). When his dad confronted him about the poor grade the kid said almost all of the other kids got 2s (the equivalent of F) so they should go easy on him. A couple of days later they had another quiz where he wasn't as lucky and he failed it. His dad asked him what the rest the class grades were to which the only answer received was "Why are you always trying to compare me with the other kids? It's not fair!!". Funny kid.
uhm? how is that relevant at all?

well, I do have one tidbit of thought about the setup that I wanna share: chances for a random lynch with 4 scum in 12 are 1 in 3 to hit scum which is a rather good chance (vs. the 1 in 8 we had last game)
and it get's even better when you think that 3 of the townies know each other and presumably won't be part of a lynch against one of their own so the chance of getting 7 votes for someone is even higher for scum and vanilla townies. Even highest for a vanilla townie I thought but since the other scum in a team might be eager to be on a train for his scumbuddy to deflect suspicion off himself in the analysis tomorrow it may even be the same: which would be 4 in 9 (so 45%) chance in hitting scum. So nolynch is definitly out of the question. of course lynching a mason is also possible without the other masons joining in but that would need 7/9 people voting whereas with vanilla and scum it's 7/11 (or 7/10 if both scum stay out which might be reasonable to assume, but not sure, one could be inclined to bus) (suicides disregarded)

before post refresh (dedo kinda ninja'd me, but I got more number and a longer paragraph saying it ;)

Well, I know my reasons for voting you, they're in my head. But ZFR, I dunno, I wasn't expecting him to vote you.

dedoporno: ... The people who seem less active are usually like this on D1, so I can't tell yet. What stood out a bit was mchack's . Up until then he was mostly talking funny stuff but after adalia (jokingly?) called him scum mchack reacted with a juicier serious post with reads on players. That's not AI on it's own of course, but it may have been the self-preservation instict kicking in to not stick out. After adalia voted him mchack made sure to not put an OMGUS vote and inform us about it which is also somewhat odd. <a href="http://www.gog.com/forum/general/forum_mafia_52_shodans_children/post209" class="link_arrow"></a></div><div class="small_avatar_2_h"><img src="//images.gog.com/301b6b5ab5a972e6e42d0c49e566a45e7d85d0b9a3f712f273a9f5bbd6285665_avm.jpg" width="16" height="16" alt="avatar" /></div><span class="quot_text"><span class="quot_user_name">mchack: </span></span>of course I don't want to be lynched same as every other townie should. last game, I was quite upset with hunter just self-hammering as a vanilla townie! Remind me never to use that url quick tag thing while making a post, I think that’s the reason why my posts keep coming glitched out. Wasn’t sure earlier, thought it might’ve been the url length before.

@mchack Thanks! Was waiting for a bump before making an ebwop.

had that problem too last game: hsl linked me a thread I have yet to read and don't have handy right now, but what helped me in the meantime was always leave a space between the url tags and the text (url] <this space and that > [/url)
and never have two links in the same line of text

Thanks for the tip! Somehow missed that discussion in last game. All hell broke loose after gog made changes to prevent people from embedding HTML inside their posts, must’ve been what HSL linked there.

I didn't say it was lamist, you did. I said you made sure we knew you didn't put an omgus back on. Not voting back (omgus or not) is obvious. Telling everyone you are not doing it is redundant. Marking it as lamist was your own doing.

Another thing I never said anything about. At no point I disliked you stating that you are Town (to be honest I didn't even register such a thing and now I probably have to go back and find what you're referring to). The only thing that I noted was you not voting back the person who voted and and letting everyone know you didn't do it. That's all. I wouldn't hold it against people claiming they are Town, it's only natural, regardless of their actual alignment.

I may be mistaken but I'm getting the impression our conversation is trying to change it's direction to something it was not about originally...

mchack: uhm? how is that relevant at all?
It's was just a story I felt like sharing at that moment.

ZFR: [...] _My first gut feeling. Based on my experience with Resistance, you talk a lot you're scum. Adalia seems to talk a lot. [...]
Is he the only one that talks a lot? If not, what differentiates him from the others?

avatar
Bookwyrm627: [...] ZFR needs to die, or am I mistaken?
I don't think I follow. Please elaborate. Especially in relation to my post #212 you kind of quoted.

avatar
mchack: right now yes, since I don't know who scum is. [...]
While your secondary argument hasn't gone unnoticed, I have to ask - is there a way as town in this setup to actually know who is scum?

avatar
mchack: [...] yes, I remember. But tell me how are you supposed to act when you are town? your usual self, avoiding doing scummy things, or for fear of being called out on it, acting all strange [...]
Did I say you should act all strange? I'm merely pointing out that the arguments in your post #218 are not exactly the sort that will clear you as town.

avatar
mchack: [...] as wyrm did last game - oh wait for him that was his usual play and thats what saved him from lynch. [...]
And neither is this one.

avatar
mchack: [...] Incidently shouldn't town wyrm be coming up with something by now)? [...]
He kind of did early on, in a jokingly manner, but it went unnoticed.

avatar
mchack: [...] well, it hasn't occured to me until you mentioned it. [...]
That's not exactly what's giving me trouble.

[emphasis added]

I'm having some trouble reconciling the two bits I highlighted.

Up to that point, nobody had given any reads on players. How was mchack doing it helping him in not sticking out? If anything, I'd say it caused the exact opposite.

avatar
dedoporno: Probably no, but it probably kicks harder when one is. [...]
Would you say that it's still probably so even if one were a town PR?

avatar
dedoporno: [...] I think so. I added a question mark in parethesis since I wasn't sure what he actually had in mind at the time of posting basing his serious vote on gut feelings. [...]
Are you saying that:
(i) given the context of adaliabooks post #161, and
(ii) having taken into account it's D1,
that you thought adaliabooks may have been joking about placing a serious vote on mchack based on a gut feeling? And if so, you considered he may be joking about which part, his vote being a serious one, or the reasoning for it?

avatar
dedoporno: [...] Why didn't you when it got your attention? [...]
Seriously?

avatar
dedoporno: Pretty sure a hacker won't end up being the lynch, [...]
[emphasis added]

How so?

avatar
trentonlf: I think it was a good story and very relevant
And quite ironic after what he did in that very same post, right before telling that story.

avatar
adaliabooks: [...] The response to dedo's prod seems a bit desperate to me too. [...]
What exactly about it seems desperate to you?

And I'm still waiting for your answer to my question (post #200).

And speaking of Krypsyn - has anybody ISO'd him? He's gone the whole game so far without making a single comment on anything; all his posts are votes/unvotes and vote counts.
