Grargar: 1) Credit Card/Paypal Gift Limit: Gifting with Credit Card/Paypal is disabled on new accounts. The restriction will be lifted 3 months after you make purchases worth $10 / €9.19 / £6.69 / A$13.99 / 719.00 RUB / 55 DKK / 70 NOK / 65 SEK / 30 PLN / C$10 / 10 CHF / R$32 in total.
2) Gifting restriction/day. You may not purchase the same game as a gift more than 1/day.
3) You may not make more than 5 gifts/day (to be honest, I'm not sure if this restriction is still valid).
I seem to remember hearing that you might be able to get the "buying x gifts per day" restriction at least temporarily lifted by contacting Support about it. Somebody was collecting gifts during a sale to use for giveaways later, and contacting support did the trick. It has been awhile, so I might be mis-remembering some aspects of this.

Based on my own experience, they won't allow accounts to buy gifts without hitting that "money spent" threshold.

zeogold: Update
Changed:
What is the Community Giveaway? has been changed to How do giveaways Work/What is the "giveaway culture" on the GOG forum? and I've added a broader scope of information
Cheers. I have one more suggestion for this section. Since some new users have been unclear on how to create a gift code, maybe something like:

- A gift code for your order can be created by going to checkout, choosing "Gift this order" and entering your own e-mail address. The gift code will then be e-mailed to you, instead of the order getting added to your library.
Update
Added:
How do I get the game I want on GOG?/What is the Community Wishlist?
How does gifting work?

Changed:
Put in how to make a gift code under How do giveaways work?
Included a reference to How does gifting work? under How can I trade on GOG? and How do giveaways work?

2 more points worth mentioning:

zeogold: How does gifting work?
1) The price of a gift will always be equal to the game's US base price or higher. Thus, if you attempt to gift a game that has a lower-than-base price in your region, its price will be increased to the base one.

zeogold: - While the suggested method of inserting a friend's email is an easy method, you can still give a gift without knowing the recipient's email address.
- Enter your own email and you will be sent a code which can be redeemed . This code can be given to whomever you desire. People on the forum often use this method for giveaways (see: "How do giveaways work?") and trading (see: "How can I trade on GOG?''). <a href="http://www.gog.com/forum/general/forum_faqs_new_to_the_forum_click_here/post2" class="link_arrow"></a></div> 2) All your gift codes are also accessible from your [url=https://www.gog.com/account/settings/orders]order history, which can be useful if you accidentally deleted the e-mail with the code or you never received a mail in the first place (or if you can't be bothered to check your e-mail).

If I redeemed Witcher EE and want to trade for another, is it possible to send key and remove the game from library in order to trade?

Not on your end. You can try emailing Support, but odds are good that they will say "No" as well.

Added:
How do I add friends?/How does friending work?

Changed:
Put in price and order history points in How does gifting work? that may or may not have been directly lifted from Grargar's post

This thread needs to be locked. It's pointless, we already have a FAQ.

That is a good point, it has become just another FAQ, and way too lengthy for anybody new. This is a game forum, I think it oughta be properly rewritten into a walkthrough format. Perhaps both a quick walkthrough and a completionist walkthrough. That this is in a FAQ format is really sad… A FAQ is so WWWebby. Hasn't anybody in this game forum played computer games? Or maybe video games? Anyone?

I've yet to figure out these forums myself. Perhaps if there was a dungeon master here, or maybe simply a puzzlemaster lurking about…

I WAS JOKING!!! XD That was a sarcastic slam on swatkat.

swatkat is a scammer with a bogus account that he illegally bought off of someone before you joined up. At one time he had derep scripts on several of us and god knows how many games he has stolen and how many bogus codes he's traded.

And don't take my word on it. Feel free to ask around and you'll see that I'm not lying.

If you mean putting your own game on gog contact them at:

I read the OP and I am not sure if chat works for me. I don't know in which thread I should ask about it so I'll post here and you can tell me if I must post somewhere else.

I allow messages from everybody, I go to the chat page and I see the avatar and username of someone I had talked to in a thread who probably wanted to contact me while I was offline. When I click on his name something tries to load? (I see that thing that goes around in a circle) on the right but nothing appears. I only see the box where you type and the SEND button. If he had sent me a message should I be able to see it or chat works only when both parties are online? And do I have to start a conversation with him too to enable the chat or it's enough when one person does it? I had enabled Javascript, Flash etc. to be sure and the browsers I used are Mozilla Firefox 46.0.1 and K-Meleon 75.1 (very old laptop here) and I can't install barefoot essentials windows xp coz:)
