gibbeynator: I guess getting games put out on GOG is a little more complicated than telling the developer "look at all this money you can get with very little investment". If it weren't, we'd have LucasArts by now.
Well, it is more complicated than that, but LucasArts is not really the best example here. As far as anyone knows, there's literally no other obstacle to getting their games on GOG than the management's unwillingness to do so – all the rights to everything they've ever made are still in George's firm grip.

As for the FF7 re-release… okay. It's a good game. If they implement an Anachronox-style fast forward button, that is.

IronStar: I'm quite sure Chrono Break would make them shitloads of money, if they would do it right. For Ultima...I'm gonna get lynched for this but I don't give a damn about it.
Yeah, Ultima sucks. It's too much like Dragon Quest.

DCT: Same reason why EA is ignoring any and all attempts to revive the Ultima series. They feel it's been too long and people won't care enough about a new game in said series to make it worth the investment. Plus it's not Final Fantasy or Kingdom hearts..

Well people can say the same about Chrono Break, but hey everyone has there own tastes you like a certain type of RPG and don't like the other but there is no need to be rude about it though, I honestly was just using the situation with Ea and Ultima as a example of what is probably going on with Square-enix concerning Chrono trigger.

Wha? It's the other way around Dragon Quest is too much like Ultima since DQ was based on Ultima and Wizardry

Except for Sam & Max, but otherwise, yeah.

Yeah, I guess you're right.
On the side note, I was not trying to be rude, I'm sorry if someone found it rude :/
Thing making me not buy it is the second feature (which I'm surprised no one else seems to have really brought up). Character booster that lets you easily cheat any section of the game? I know SE likes their RPGs easy these days but even that's a bit silly.

Sam & Max was a licensed game, they never owned Sam & Max.
I hope this re-release isn't the old PC port

I know you weren't trying to be rude, I just figured it can be construed people as such thanks to all this silly JRPG vs Western RPG "one is always better then the other" type fanboy BS that goes on on the net. Which I can not understand, honestly the majority of JRPGs we see are designed for consoles and the limits of that platform and so are streamlined/made more linear since console games lean more towards linearity then western RPGs which normally were made for the PC and other computers when they existed and so are usually more open ended/less linear because that was what worked on that plaform. I personally don't take it as such but again someone else may. Personally I like both styles both have there strengths and weaknesses and their share of amazing games and dear god why does this even exist ones, I just over the years developed more of a taste for more open ended and free form game play then the straight forwardness, though when I was younger I was more into that since it was easier for me to play.

Point is it's all a matter of personal taste and preference.

Sorry about that little off-topic tirade, I get pretty passionet about something. Anyway nothing to see here, carry on ignore the crazy old gamer in his undies with his pants around his ankles singing "old grey mare" while ranting about the damn kids on his lawn and the sillyness of Cosnole RPGs vs PC RPGs(JRPGs vs Western RPGs if you prefer)

Yeah, that really sounds stupid. I wonder if they're selling them seperate. Something like an ingame pop-up when you're dying... "Boost your HP to kick some ass, for just $1.99" xP

Well... Final Fantasy VII never was that hard to beat. Ruby and Emerald-Weapon were a bit tricky, but after some training still beatable for the average gamer. There's really no need for character boosters. A chocobo-shop on the other hand... I didn't like the hunting and breeding, necessary for a golden chocobo. I would spend a dollar or two to skip this part :-P

I could never beat the monsters which led to Sephiroth..and I've since lost the discs.

As is shown by this guy's ongoing LP http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3415223
His Aerith was the first in the party to deal >2000 damage in one hit...
Oh come on Square-Enix, release FF7 here too for god-sakes...

DCT: Well I think why they(Square-enix) are not re-releasing the PC version of FF7 here is because they may view that it would hurt the sales of the Steam version. Silly I know but when it comes to big companies you can't normally expect what we considered logic.
I really don't see why hurting Steam sales would be any of SE's concern since they'll be getting money no matter where it's bought. Unless they don't like the dollar only thing, which seems to me like it'd be a more viable (logical) reason for some publishers not feeling like putting stuff on GOG.
