Also, speaking of 20XX, I just found out that both the Steam version and Epic Store version can't be played offline AT ALL, so I certainly wouldn't call it DRM-free anymore.

Wait. So this is an online-only game?

As far as I can tell, yes. I don't know if it was always like that, but it is now.

EDIT: I downloaded and old version of 20XX from Steam, and that one works offline. This is something to do with the Epic version's release, and the Steam version's update to allow for cross-platform play.

My version is drm free, the little i played it at least (daily challenges and MP aside obviously), so good thing i installed it when i did.
It's looking like Remnant: From the Ashes is DRM-free so far, seeing no issues with saves. Also I've had no problems with 20XX on my end. I was able to boot it up and get in no problem. I cant' say anything about saves yet but I definitely did an offline test before just to see if the game let me play at all.
As an update, the developer of 20XX has confirmed the offline problem, and he's planning a fix for it.

Thanks for update. I've also just spotted this topic by wolfsite:-

"Currently in Beta this allows you to install and run games from the Epic Game Store without using the Client, this is a nice alternative especially for Linux as it installs the games and sets them up with WINE and handles authentication and DRM"

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/legendary_epic_game_storeclient_alternative_for_linux_and_windows

https://github.com/derrod/legendary

I've no idea if this changes anything for games like The Talos Principle that needs the Epic Client to authenticate (but aren't "online games"), but it would be interesting to test a few. (I mean it could change things if this is more than just an alternative downloader in the same way the "Goldberg Emulator" is for Steam).

Oh, I'm going to have to look into that downloader, thanks for the links!

Also, an update: 20XX has been patched, and it works offline again. Just to be clear, though, with the Epic version, only the base game is DRM-free; the DLC won't load without going through the client. Took one for the team, there. :-\
Three Out Of 10 Episode 2
Three Out Of 10 Episode 3
Three Out Of 10 Episode 4

Can all be played without the client. Also I redownloaded Control including both DLCs and apparently even with the latzest update it does not need the client to run.
Desperados 3 does not seem to have any DRM. Renamed the Epic Launcher, the game still runs and plays great.
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is drm-free. Works straight from the exe.

Anyone happen to test The Unfinished Swan, per-chance?

I would also like to know.

Also has anyone tested New Super Lucky's Tale?

Three out of 10: Episode 5 confirmed to be runnable without client (tested on win7/64).
Just saw this on PCgamingwiki about Journey.

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Journey

Epic Games Launcher is required for saving progress between launches and for the multiplayer functionality.

So does this mean that you can load your save game outside of the launcher after saving it first through the launcher?
