Hi, I wanted to buy some games, supposedly DRM-free, but hesitated when I realized they were EA products. I couldn't find anything mentioning Origin until I found the end user license agreement which says:

"[...]An EA/Origin Account, including the acceptance of EA’s online Terms of Service and Privacy Policy [...], the installation of Origin client application [...] (or superceding download management software) as well as acceptance of the Origin (or superceding download management software) End User License agreement, may be required to access the Software.[...]"

Sounds like "anything can happen but you can find out!". Can anybody tell me wheather or not I need Origin to play such a game?

For games on GOG, you don't need an Origin account.
uh, what? Here? What game?
For games here on gog you do not need Origin.
It is just the standard EA end user license that is shown, since EA never bothered to adjust it.

Read the EULA of any EA game here on GOG. Standard EA EULA, even if it doesn't apply to their games on GOG.
You buy origin games and you need origin like mass effect 3 and such but if you just want one game I could recommend dead spaces.

edit1: One recommend game: Dead spaces.. damn hopefully they will at some point in my life get tjhat story to end but still Dead space 1 is awesome second one is great third is cool

We've had this thread before. The EULA while absolutely worthless, is something companies feel the need to still include. GOG realizes their lack of worth and probably just staples them.

I was almost wondering if he was trying to buy on origin rather than here for a sec. lol
The only thing you need to play games here is a couple of bucks and a lot of free time. :P

Well if you are going to play something like Dark Reign or Haegemonia you might also want to invest in a steel reinforced mouse because you are bound to rage sling that thing against the wall a few times trying to win them.

You don't need Origin. This is a generic EULA that EA supplies to all distribution sites with their games.
There isn't actual drm free games in origin but they have had free games prob gog versions in many cases for old games like syndicate. Man I hated 5 euros syndicate (the new one) it just didn't activate.. I usually don't rape my hair but then it bit happened.

Do I recommend origin for anyone? Not really.. Also Dragon age inquisition is single player mmo.. so better play that again. Though mass 3 had great multiplayer. perhaps I will install it and see what's happening in there. ^^

I actually like when people don't drink water but I get it, you actually don't hear it many times.. Especially in bad hair days. ^^
