A Dungeon of Love for Valentine’s Day from GOG.com and EA!

Today of all days, a good part of the world celebrates love in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. For us at GOG.com, there is no greater love than the love of classic PC games. We love them, you love them, and you know what? We love you as well! So we decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day by partnering up with our friends at Electronic Arts to offer you an exclusive Dungeon Keeper promotion:

For the next 48 hours Dungeon Keeper Gold (complete with the Deeper Dungeons expansion) can be added to your GOG.com account for free! If you already own it on GOG.com, you can still get one extra gift-code for the game and present it to your significant other gamer, or a friend.

Spend time quality time protecting your Dungeon Heart from invaders and experience this classic series first hand. Further, the excellent sequel, Dungeon Keeper 2, is available for only $1.49 as a part of our special Valentine's Day promo. The offer lasts until Sunday, February 16, at 10:59AM GMT.

Would you rather storm and loot dungeons rather than protect them? Our special Destination: Dungeons & Dragons promo has you covered with a great collection of RPG classics up to 80% off!

YellowAries: Yep.. Jeez, GOG released A LOT of free game as of late... what, like.. 6? or 7..?
They've certainly been on a roll in that regard, yes. They've been going great-guns with the new releases lately too. Good stuff all around.

gibbeynator: Probably because you can't get Dungeon Keeper Gold for free just by going to the game page anymore, you have to go to a specialized page that lets you get in line for it. Expect the page to come back up after the giveaway has ended.
That makes sense, hopefully is indeed the case. Would hate if GOG is being told to stop selling the original game so that's harder for people to compare the crap new version to it.

YellowAries: I am going to make a wild guess here...

Since it's impossible to access the Dungeon Keeper 1 game page (<span class="bold">Click Here</span>) I am assuming GOG is removing the game from their store after the free game promotion ends.

Why else would we not be able to access the game page for Dungeon Keeper 1?
DK1 is added to user accounts using a queue system which is completely separate from the regular website checkout that you go through via gamecard / add to cart option... hence the product page temporarily redirects to the main page where you can claim the game for free. Nothing is being removed, it's just a quick workaround.

Hurrah!
Thank you, just got mine.
Got it! Thanks again, GOG!

For those waiting, mine took about 2 hours.
Thanks so much for Dungeon Keeper Gold, GOG! You are the best, THE BEST!
What a way to answer to the abomination of in-app purchases-enhanced DK for iPad/Android. Eat this, EA!
Some related reading &amp; watching.
i like it ^^ Dk1 is one of my favorite "retro" games ^^ hope i can download it soon
I still haven't got mine in the mail :/
More shinies from the wondeful GOG bears. Yippee!

Now where did I put that lotion & Q Lazzarus album... >;)
Really awesome Deal GOG always nice to get a free game, especially one that is as praised as Dungeon Keeper! One question though, I noticed that the game page for DK is not working is that just temporary?

s23021536: Btw how is DKII fairing on 64bit win7 systems these days?
avatar
pi4t: Quite well: I've been playing recently, and didn't suffer any crashes or anything except in my latest mission (17/20) where I think the skeletons my minions were summoning, plus all the minions themselves, all trying to fight together went over the game's memory limit and the game crashed. Sending my normal minions into my base and locking the doors so they couldn't join in the combat worked fine.

Also, I'm playing with the default resolution (with black bars), so can't say if there's a working widescreen fix or not. Otherwise, though, it seems very stable.
Awesome thanks! I've been meaning to try an get my hands on an old 19'' 4:3 lcd specifically for old games

Does it means should I just click the button, keep the GOG main page open and the game will be added after certain amount of time?

Yeah. So no one will buy the game and get it via the frontpage for free.
Just appeared in my library. Thank you again, GOG! :)
