hey fellow gog'ers

since i am running through my FPS list once again (and finishing those new shooters way too fast with no intention of replaying them any time soon) i started to think: Which shooters are missing from gog (or other places like steam) that really deserve to be here and why.

I know there is a wishlist but that's really the point of this topic.

I have three suggestions:

Powerslave/Exhumed: good FPS, best way to discribe it is Doom with the build engine set in Egypt. Watched a couple of levels from the GalleyUK playthrough on youtube (the guy is really good in old FPS, even though he doesn't talk through the video) and it looks really good.

Chasm the rift + expansion: Decent oldschool FPS with gameplay similar to quake and doom in a time when shooters where already evolving. It's an less known gem but most people who played it have fond memories of it. It difficult to get to run on modern hardware and it's expansion is really difficult to find

Soldier of Fortune: I am really suprised this isn't here since we have the publisher on board (activision) but it's from raven software and well we are missing all of those raven classics. Good oldschool shooter that is more infamous then remember for the game itself (just like Daikatana). At it's release it was one of the most gory and violent FPS out there and to be honest it still feels that way. Many people consider it's sequel superior but i disagree. Half of the sequel is really bad, the levels that are good though surpass the original.

Any other recommendations?
My list would also include:
Strife: Quest for the Sigil
Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Terminator: SkyNET
Quarantine 1-2
Red Faction 1-2
Hexen 1-2

Ah, it would take me forever to explain each game, and I've got to head out right now. Pretty much my rationale for wanting any game to be on GOG is 'because I like it'.

Good list: definitely Strife and SkyNET are good choices! Dark Forces, red faction 1-2 and Hexen 1-2 are available on steam. never heard of quarantine, i'll have to look that one up.

It would be nice to see PowerSlave here, but I have no idea were the IP now may sit... Lobotomy Software was the developer, and they got bought up by EA in the mid-late 90's, and the studio ceased to exist some years after this. If the rights reverted to Lobotmy, it should be in the bowls of EA, which again may make it possible to get it here.

However, the publisher was Playmates Toys, which is a subsidiary of a larger American/Asian corporation, and I have the feeling that if the IP is locked up in the dungeons there somewhere, it may not see daylight again...
No One Lives Forever 1 + 2 because they are pretty unique with their 60's approach, also the humour is very funny.
NOLF is among my most replayed games, especially where FPS is concerned.

Stalker 1 + 2 + 3, simply because they are among the best games I've ever played.

Terra Nova SFC, one of the best actiongames I've ever played, also not your typical FPS.

The first System Shock, I'm probably getting flamed for this but I liked this one more than the sequel.

Agree on: Dark Forces, Strife, Exhumed, Soldier of Fortune, Red Faction 1, Hexen 1 + 2.
Clive Barker's Undying? Because it shivers your spine... ;p
The Aliens VS. Predator and Soldier of Fortune series. That's would satisfy all my FPS needs.

Yeah the NOLF games are a no brainer. They are amazing, I even liked contract J.A.C.K. (but i might be in the minority)

A lot of people did, including me.
If GOG could through some eldritch means get Metroid Primes, it'd be the coolest thing. Something like GOG calling the Nintendo dudes and being all like "yo, hit me up with a PC version of Metroid Prime" and they'd be like "a'ight".

Don't be silly :p
I don't think these have been mentioned:
Malice for Quake
Requiem: Avenging Angel
Project IGI
Wheel of Time
Elite Force

Portal of Praevus expansion for Hexen2
Wages of SiN expansion for SiN

OOh i forgot about wheel of time (not stricktly a FPS if i remember correctly).

I agree on the portal of praevus exp because i neven had a chance to play it ;) and same goes for sin expansion (and to be honest SIN should really be on here)

EDIT Just thought of an obvious one: Outlaws (come on LucasArts)

Also Nosferatu: the Wrath of Malachi
I'm playing 'You are Empty' at the moment, only played the first load point of the first level but it seems pretty good so far - nice art style on the cut scenes especially

I also have Klingon Honor Guard on my list of things I might dig out of the cupbioard one day
Ooh, ooh, I don't know if you can DD them from MS but 2 obvious ones not here or on Steam are Halo 1 and 2!
