Please welcome two great point ’n’ click adventure games and a dynamic space simulator that are joining GOG.COM’s ranks today:

Amazon: Guardians of Eden (-50%) is a humorous adventure game where you journey back in time to the year 1957 on an expedition to the dark heart of the Amazon Basin.

Countdown (-50%) is yet another cool adventure game with a twist. This time you become an American agent Mason Powers that is being framed for murder.

ECHELON (-50%) is a sci-fi simulator in which you sit behind the cockpit of C-104 Light Cruiser tasked with patrolling unknown charters of space.

All three titles mentioned above are now available on GOG.COM with a 50% discount that will last until 9th August 2021, 1 PM UTC.

BreOl72: Holy mackerel,...I still own the disk version of the C64 version.
I am very tempted...though it would be interesting to know, whether the PC version runs a little more fluid and faster than the C64 version.
Me too, I remember being very disappointed. Very low frame rate were a given on C64 flight sim back but I think Echelon had the worst frame rate I ever experienced. That port should have been shelved.
It's great to see these games here!

SLP2000: Hell yeah, I wrote to Big Finish Games about Amazon Guardians of Eden and Countdown in June, and they said they are "certainly going to look into bringing these titles to GOG". I didn't expect them to be here so soon.

GOG, please bring Crime Wave here as well.
I think it is neat that the community can assist in pushing publishers and titles towards Gog's storefront. When Links 386 dropped and I saw that it was by Access Software, I had hoped that Countdown would be released. Fortunately, the wait was not long and the introductory store price made it an instant buy.

In a similar effort, I had reached out to West Coast Software asking if they would consider releasing D/Generation on GOG. Their COO replied expressing interest and asking for GOG to reach out to them. Time will tell.

So - I guess, you never played "Driller", then? ;)

Okay. I'll wait for 2001 Echelon.
I had to recheck whether this is actually happening.

Quite literally less than 24 hours ago I was searching and listing some older adventure games that I haven't played before, and I wrote down Countdown as one of those games.

I guess there is some hope for those other games on that list appearing here some day too!
EDIT:

After having played the game I'm saddened to see that unfortunately it does have the risk of "walking dead" scenarios between chapters - meaning that you can die in a chapter if you forgot some item in the previous chapter.

Gotta say that I think the puzzles are quite logical, compared to some adventure games from that era (and later). The main issue seems to be the "pixel hunt" to find essential objects.
Save often.

I am told by a friend that Big Finish Games gave Crime Wave to GOG to test, and GOG found it not up to their standards.

However, I was curious regarding DOSBOX not being able to run it, and I checked DOSBOX's website to see if the game ever ran on old versions.

Turns out it did. 0.58 ran it ok, while 0.61 seems to support it fully.. This leads me to guess that GOG prefers using the latest version of DOSBOX and seeing if the software works on it. So in this version, 0.74-3, Crime Wave does not run good enough for GOG to sell the game.

I don't know GOG's policy on using older versions of DOSBOX, though.

Didn't Echelon come with a headset for voice commands? Maybe I'm thinking of a different flight sim.
Always excited to see more old games on the store.

The "LipStik" was only used for firing when you made any sound. I still have mine.

Yes. The Headset (called "The LipStick") was included in the game box, but only for a limited run right after release.

From the back of the box:

"For a limited time, ECHELON includes the "LipStick" voice activated control headset. It plugs into control port #2 and functions with your joystick to enhance and expand your game playing enjoyment. The "LipStick" uses "voice avtivation" to initiate various control sequences. For example, instead of pushing the joystick button to fire your weapons, just say "fire" or launch", and the computer responds. Using the headset adds a new dimension of realism to the game. It's a feeling you must experience for yourself. The "LipStick" is a $19,95 value and included FREE for a limited time with ECHELON."

My version came without it, and I don't think, you could buy it separately (here in Germany).

I would be surprised if recent dosbox (0.73+) doesn't run it well. Btw, dosbox website is sometimes outdated regarding compatibility levels since the info there hasn't been updated for many games.

Well, it does specify which version the info applies to.
