CaptainGyro: you?
okay. your post was weird as hell then and i have trouble understanding your point.

What I am saying it's been a week since the stunt and some of you (not pointing at anyone in particular, general statement) are way too butthurt about it. Both sides (anti-gog and pro-gog)

Stunt happened, we raged, we cried we were happy. we were "insert an emotion here" now stuff is back to normal and continuing this discussion after a week and with so much hate from some of you is really pointless.

I just miss ol' times where we all get along and this pointless topic is not helping.
I don't know what is so hard to understand or "weird as hell" about my point. You asked "are we still on that" and then said "go rage at obama or something" so you obviously wish people would be talking about something else already. I don't know why you would come in here in this thread then if you didn't want to see more discussion on the topic though. What were you expecting in here?
Also the thread wasn't posting new replies for several days, so the responses are delayed, which is partly why the topic is still going a week later

Ask anjohl. He'll tell you in graphic detail.
Now that I have had time to cool down I will explain why this PR stunt bothered me so.

About 2 years ago I had made a list of PC games coming out that year I wanted to buy, I had around 15 games on the list! Well the days of me getting excited about a game I read a preview of is over. One by one I read about the unacceptable DRM included in the games. I ended up only buying 2 of those games, although there were 3 on the list with acceptable DRM. (Disc check and/or CD Key)

Only six short months before this list was made I had spent over $3500.00 building a new Quad-core complete with a GTX280 (purchased the day of release!), upgrading to a LCD and such. With all this new DRM I was devastated that I may have "wasted" that money because of my stance on DRM!

In this fog of DRM was a shinning beacon of light, that beacon of light was GoG! I could play DRM Free classics I missed, and relive the fond memories of games that no longer played in Vista! I was overjoyed!...But...Wait...No!!! That beacon of light was gone with no warning! I became upset and angry that once again my days of playing games I have never played were ending.

GoG touted DRM Free from the beginning, enticing people like me. It was a cruel joke, in very poor taste! I don't just talk about unacceptable DRM Free...I live it! I am not denying myself of gaming, I am freeing myself of tyranny by the game companies!

You know, day after day that passes we're headed more and more to an idiocracy society type.
People don't have a sense of humor no more, they piss in their pants instantly, the fear factor is great.
I've heard of gog before, almost since the begining, i remember thinking positive about their initiative but somehow delayed the initiative to be a member here.
Their humor (many of you call it stunt but i don't think so) was great, from the moment I read their "fake" announcement I didn't believe it, I was 100% that they will come back strong and in greater form and I decided to join.
So as far as I'm concerned their "stunt" was great and succeeded all the way.

Yes, you are correct. It a real shame when people can't post replies with out someone criticizing them for doing so, that is when the real idiots show themselves!

It has nothing to do with having a sense of humor, but maybe what is found expectable business practices varies in different regions of the globe. Personally if I want comedy I go to an appropriate source for it. I expect a company that is offering goods/services to the public to act professional. It would also be nice if all members posting replies could show respect for the opinions, thoughts and feelings of others as well.

So true. The moment that started happening en masse was the day that "GOG's classy community" lost the "classy".

=(

It's also the reason many old time regular posters have ceased posting as much as they used to.

And that's spot on.

I see that you signed up recently, so that supports what you say.
Can I request that for the next PR stunt, they dress up like dudes from The Road Warrior?

One of them could be the Humungus and the other could be Wez, and the people in the compound could be Ubisoft/LucasArts/EA/Whatever publisher doesn't want to get on board.

Wez: NO! NO MORE TALK! WE GO IN! WE STEAL! WE STEAL!
Humungus: Be still my GoG of war. I understand your pain. We've all lost games we love. But we do it my way!
Wez: Losers! Losers wait!
Humungus: We do it my way. Sales are our ally. The games will be ours. *knocks him unconscious* There has been too much piracy. Too much pain. None here would not see it. But I have an honorable compromise; Just walk away. Give me your System Shocks, the Goldbox RPGs, the Roller Coaster Tycoons, and your whole back catalog, and I'll spare your lives. Just walk away, and we'll give you respectable sales figures in this Digital Rights Management wasteland. Just walk away, and there will be an end to the horror.
