Hehe, thanks, wasn't expecting that one! Still very much appropriate :)
Hellfire was not made by Blizzard, and if I remember correctly, wasn't even compatible with the latest version of Diablo.
They could also release original Starcraft while they're at it. Yes, you can download it for free but you need Blizzard account and battle.net client and the only way to play it DRM free is by pirating it.

It is painful (and sad) for me to think that the same SW house that brought us Diablo, is today only interested in ... WoW ...

The fact you like it, still doesn t mske that game any bettee.
At least to my eyes...
It's doubtful that Blizzard will make another good game for people with a brain (maybe Starcraft 3 can be worthy but only maybe, Starcraft 2 was a huge decline when compared to SC1) their recent games have shown it. Diablo 3 had a chance to become a better game than D2 but in the end all the great ideas Leonard Boyarsky had were shot down and ultimately they've made it a poor mod for World of Warcraft. The atmospheric, gloomy, dark locations have been replaced by a miriad of colours and the gameplay instead of becoming more complex was dumbed down. Path of Exile devs have shown how it should be done and D3 loses on every front.

I guess it's a SoftWare House, if I had to offer something up.

Hell, Grim Dawn is a better Diablo sequel than D3.

Mr.Mumbles: Ars Technica has a nice article on this very news topic. Apparently, they had access to the game for a week already. I like how they go way more in-depth about the release than other articles I've seen elsewhere.

Also, it seems like everyone is saying that Warcraft 1 & 2 are guaranteed to follow at a later time. :)
Thanks for the article. The bit about the security issues regarding multi-player was also very interesting.

kharille: Hellfire was a mod right? Wonder if they couldn've had that. Heard it wasn't a very good 'upgrade' mind you...
Well, you 've heard wrong. Diablo 2 owes some of its characters, mechanisms and levels, to the jealousy of Blizzard over the content of Hellfire addon. Barbarian, crypt, nest, running (although only in town), runes, it had a sh_tton of novelties and additions...

It might not be canon, but it was a real blast. It's a shame gog didn't secure the rights to it, but hey, abandonware sites should have a reason to exist, after all!
