dycaite: I think it's a little different when the company bases their whole identity around being gamer friendly. Gamers want an answer - the likes to dislikes ratio on the videos talking about this are proof enough of that. GOG should either speak up or drop the facade.
avatar
firstpastthepost: And these you tubers I’ve never heard of speak for all gamers? You’re making a lot of assumptions about the relevance of this video.

I’m not a fan of gog canning any games for anything beyond reasonable reasons, but that’s besides the point. I’m only pointing out that it’s naive to think that a YouTube video of the opinions of a few people that have no real influence outside a relatively tiny bubble would matter to anyone outside said bubble. Clearly you are part of the bubble, and that’s cool. To the vast majority of people outside the bubble it sounds like whining.
I was trying to make a point. There are "many gamers" who want to know more about this. Why are we being treated differently to the initial "gamers" who messaged?

XYCat: there was no point there though :D

dycaite: You're trying to equate the fact that a number of pretty high profile YouTubers are complaining about this to the fact that... other YouTubers exist that have more subs? What is the correlation here?
You're probably the only person in the world (other than the youtubers themselves) who cares about some youtubers' subscriber count. Mainly because it's not relevant to anything. The only thing less relevant is whatever youtubers complain about, like in general.

Again, I was trying to make a point about the number of gamers, since GOG want to claim that was their reason for pulling the game in the first place. I'm pointing out the disparity between THOSE "many gamers" and US "many gamers". That's it.

zwolfy: I don't come here very often anymore. Sad to see such a wholesome community turn into this dumpster fire.
Should come here more often...then you would know, that (sadly) this is nothing new.

And a larger number of people apparently care about some more worthwhile content.

What makes you think you’re being treated differently? Because they haven’t changed their mind and decided to sell the game? Because they haven’t released a public apology to you for not selling a game? I’m not sure exactly what you’re expecting here, but I expect you won’t be happy unless they sell this game, which essentially means what your really saying is that your opinion is more important than the opinion of the people who said they don’t want the game sold, and I’m not sure what makes you think you’re that important.

Because they refuse to give us any response, any clarification whatsoever. Why do Chinese gamers deserve an immediate response, but when we point out the holes in their excuse, we get the silent treatment? Why is that OK to you?

BreOl72: Out of a morbid curiosity: what solution do you offer?
avatar
dycaite: I think I've made it pretty clear that my solution here is for GOG to at the very least address the backlash. If they want to rebuild trust and reputation like they say, they need to stop ignoring us and lying to us
You are around since 2012 and still haven't noticed that GOG always applies the good old "bird ostrich tactic" in their crisis management?
Maybe you should have been around more often then.

Umm... OK? I wasn't. I've just had a GOG account since then.

Well let me bring you up to date then:
GOG won't comment on business decisions in the forum.
The end.

I'm not necessarily expecting them to say anything about it here in particular, I'm just here to make my voice heard.

They did release a statement. You just didn’t like it. I’m not sure what clarification you think is necessary. If they released a statement that said, “We decided not to sell this game because it would upset gamers in the Chinese market and that market is a large market we don’t want to lose market share in.” Would it really make you any happier? No, it wouldn’t. So what do they have to gain from providing clarification? They gain nothing, they would only provide ammunition to people who want to attack them and bad publicity. What you’re asking for makes no sense for them to do.

YES! Yes it would. Because then at least they wouldn't be lying to our faces. I will admit, the longer this goes on, the less "happy" I would be with that outcome, but it will still be a way better situation than their current stance.

They aren’t lying. Nothing they’ve said about it could be construed as lying. In fact, the only thing they’ve said about it is a paraphrasing of what you just said you wanted to hear.

They're lying by way of being incredibly vague with their statement and leaving out key details. It was not simply "many gamers" as they tried to spin it - THAT makes it sounds like WE asked for this.
