Can I create a desktop shortcut for the witcher 3 through GoG galaxy?
It's an installation option; look under the gear-shaped icon near the bottom left.

I don't think there's a way of adding it to an existing installation through the client.
Does the shortcut open up the GOG client and run the game, like Steam shortcuts? If so, can you post the shortcut target/URL? It seems the only way to run the game through the client is to run the client, click the game, and click play.

Yes, go to the cog icon on the lower left, check the box that says install with desktop shortcut, then go to your games dropdown menu, manage, and verify your game.
Cool,that helped. Thanks.
For me one of the free DLCs installation was enough after setting Galaxy to make shortcuts.
Thanx for the tip!
Sorry for a little bit of necro, but I kinda had a question regarding desktop shortcuts.

I flagged it so that it creates them, but is there any way to tell him NOT to create them if the game's updating? It's really annoying because I've got all shortcuts in other folders, and I don't want them on my desktop again when it's a simple update.

Games like Dungeon Keeper 2 are updated frequently, so... Yeah.

Thanks a lot guys

I put all desktop icons in a quick launch folder.

There is no current way to disable them for updates only... but you can of course make a suggestion for that in the Galaxy wishlist.

I don't know if this is for all games but in most, if you go to manage, then show folder, there is often the shortcut already there and you just have to drag it to the desktop
I selected the option during installation for The WItcher 3 and it worked, but after a while the shortcut somehow dissapeared(or maybe i deleted it by mistake?) anyways, is there a way to create a Shortcut for the game, after the game is already installed?

That sadly only works for certain games, The Witcher 3 for example lacks any executable outside of unistall :/

"%PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\GalaxyClient\GalaxyClient.exe " /gameId=1207664643 /command=launch

What is that supposed to be for? launching galaxy, or creating a shortcut for The WItcher 3?

Launching Galaxy with The Witcher 3 tab open. If you want direct The Witcher 3 shortcut, you have to find executable in game folder. \The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe
