I got quite excited that STEAM have the Novalogic cagtalogue online (well part of it).
Sadly they don't have the original Commanche :(
Anyway, I thought I'd ask here as the STEAM community is too hostile.
Anyone know for sure if the Delta Force servers are dead ?
I'm convinced they got shut down years ago, so surely this means all those games are affectively single player only (even though STEAM advertise them as online).
You might be able to use Hamachi for lan type games, but I'm convinced you needed to sign in for any form of multiplayer action ?

The newer games have servers around. I doubt the early ones did. It wouldn't be very cost effective to keep master servers for games that nobody plays on multiplayer anymore.
And someone should buy me Delta Force Black Hawk Down.

Cheers Michael, Good point.... I should have mentioned that I mean't the early Delta Force games :)
I'm not entirely sure you can play online even with Hamachi (I may be wrong) as I remember having to sign in before you could play anything online/lan related.
Some one will know :)
I've got the original retail Delta Force, so I could check it out when I get home from work. I haven't played it in at least 5 years though.

i loved DF games, but they want too much for them.
DF Xtreme was 4 times cheaper on release in poland than in steam promo.
But anyway most games on steam cost 4x more than in shops in poland ;/
I cant find my copies of Land Warior and BHD so i would be werry happy to get them, but not for 9 euros.
And as for servers
i've found this page, read some posts on forum and think that some are still working
atleast for DF2

I played it when GameTap still worked, and it was not very fun.
Ahh delta force, I'd buy them in a heartbeat if they were on gog
Pretty sure that 1 & 2 were playable online without a server, you could just have one player host & play

DF2 had a couple thousand active regular players when Novalogic pulled the plug on the official servers. Now a couple thousand people may not sound a lot but a big server only holds 32 people so they were practically full all the time. It was a shame because I was a part of the DF2 online community for a long time. I don't know if it still has a community though as I gave up playing it years ago.

I second this notion. How about it GOG? Give us some Black Hawk Down action?

Thirded. And Xtreme, unless someone in particular would like to buy me Xtreme on Steam.

DF1 allows direct IP connection, but I think from DF2 onwards the only internet play options are through Novalogic's service (NovaWorld or whatever it's called). For LAN play, everything before Black Hawk Down uses IPX, so Vista users are screwed, though you can use the direct IP option to get around it in DF1.

Nah I've defintely played 2 through a direct IP connection, 2 friends and I used to play it a lot (and with only the one original copy at that) and I'm certain we weren't going through remote servers, if for no reason other than it was 56k & that would have made it all laggy

(I already replied to this once, but the forum software apparently ate it. Arglebeh!)
I just started it up to check, and the only two options are NovaWorld, which is just a server browser, and LAN/IPX.
You can host your own game, but for anyone to find it, they have to connect to the master server, and get the big list o' servers. If it ever had the option to enter an IP address to join, it's since been patched out (I'm using the 10th Anniversary Collection version).
I just discovered that DF1 will let you play over a serial link. How quaint!

The master servers for matchmaking are still online, even for DF1 and DF2.
