Heretic777: I never heard of this game before, looks really good, kinda similar to the original Silent Hill.
It's a kind of Twin Peaks: The Game :)

I'd never heard of it before either. But apparently it had a completely different name here (Red Seeds Profile) and even then, I've never seen it in stores, but maybe that's because of the extremely bland and forgettable box art.

I'm interested to see which regions RSG will release it in now... Something tells me they won't be releasing it in Japan because ME won't play ball. But I hope they can pull it off. We could do with having more Japanese games available on Steam here. Especially when the likes of Capcom JP still refuse to release PC games they hold the rights to. If enough smaller J-publishers start supporting the system, the bigger name ones may start to take it seriously too.
This would be a perfect fit for this website. I contacted them already and asked them to consider GOG. If you want to do the same here are various links to contact them :

Well if you're dying to play this, you should probably know that GOG isn't the only distributor in the world!

But it's my favourite :)
And I don't buy games with DRM at full price, so if it's Steam exclusive, I'll have to wait for a sale :)
Oh hey, I didn't even notice that it was already greenlit on Steam.

No DRM will stop me from Twin Peaking.

Great to hear that they're expanding to other places, but... they're going to implement Steamworks first, then remove it later on for the DRM-free version? Or are they going to be like those devs that tell GOG that their game is DRM-free, it only uses Steamworks? ;)

Will you dare to enter The Black Lodge then?
This has to happen.

I know this response is kind of late, but the reason you didn't know it was probably because it was a Xbox 360 exclusive for many years. They did make a PS3 version not that long ago but I doubt they marketed that much over there, it must have been easier and cheaper to market it to PS3 owners in the west, who already knew about the game but couldn't buy it because it wasn't on their system, then to start from scratch on the japanese market where no one knew the game.

Which would be rather odd, unless they thought the game wasn't very good. Pretty much all the other Xbox 360 exclusives were marketed heavily when they put out their PS3 versions. The publishers of those games wanted to make some profit from their work I guess!

Honestly I wouldn't expect GOG to be selling this one. RSG themselves don't have a clear idea of which regions they will be releasing the game in and with GOG only selling games that can be sold worldwide, if RSG can't or won't sell the game in a specific region, then GOG won't sell the game at all.

Also given how they want to embrace Steamworks features, etc., I'd also be surprised if they bothered to put out a DRM free version.

Actually, I was wrong. Looking up details of the release online, apparently it was out for both Xbox 360 and PS3 in Japan but internationally it was a Xbox 360 exclusive for some reason.

The west only saw it on PS3 April of this year, with the advent of the Director's Cut, which was never released in Japan. Peculiar at first glance, until you see how it truly did not sell over there: exhibits one and two.

Not every game is a bestseller, but as for why this one in particular did not sell at all over there, I cannot fathom. Maybe it was a foregone conclusion. You say you never heard of it, so maybe the publisher never advertised it because it didn't think it would sell, then when it did not sell due to the lack of advertisements, they gave themselves a pat on the back for being right.

Speaking of publishers, the original release was published in Japan by Marvelous Interactive, but since the Director's Cut never came out over there, there seems to be no ties between Marvelous and the Director's Cut, and that's the one coming to PC, maybe Rising Star might retain the rights over there as well?
