The Way (rules)

1.Post at least once every 48 hours. You get two warnings.

2. Discussing the game outside this thread is forbidden

3. Do not edit your posts

Description of the game:

- Court of the Sultan is played by three factions. In this game it’s the loyalists, rebels, and protesters. The allegiance of each player is kept hidden except for the Grand Vizier. The rebels may communicate through special chat.

- The loyalists win when there are no more rebels left alive, or when there are no traitors (a rebel appointed by a Grand Vizier) in the government after every protester has been recruited.

- The rebels win when they form a the majority of the government, or when a rebel is appointed as Grand Vizier.

- The protesters win alongside the rebels. If a protester is appointed by the Grand Vizier, they become a loyalist.

- Players can't win after death

- The game is divided into two phases – The court phase and the intrigue phase.

- During the first court phase, the Grand Vizier will secretly appoint two players to join the government . If the Grand Vizier selects a rebel, then he will be automatically assassinated during the next intrigue phase (unless protected by the commander of the guard).

- During the intrigue phase, each faction must select a player to accuse (the imam decides for the protesters). Certain abilities can be used during this phase as well.

- During subsequent court phases, everyone must vote to defame an accused player. The accused player with the majority of votes, or most votes once the phase ends, will be executed.

- If a loyalist is killed, then the Grand Vizier will select a replacement during the next intrigue phase

- If the Grand Vizier is assassinated, then the game will enter a special court phase. All members of the government, and a third person chosen by the Imam, will be nominated to become Grand Vizier. Whichever nominated player receives a majority of votes, or the most votes before the phase ends, will become the new Grand Vizier.

Setup

Grand Vizier (loyalist)

- After the end of the first court session, you must select two players to join your faction. If you choose a rebel, then you will be assassinated.

- Once per intrigue phase, you may instantly execute a member of your own faction
- During the intrigue phase you must select a player to accuse.

Win Condition: All rebels eliminated, or the government is kept pure after all protesters are recruited.

Commander of the Guard (loyalist)

- During the intrigue phase you may protect a player from assassination.

Win Condition: All rebels eliminated, or the government is kept pure after all protestors are recruited.

Commander of the Guard (rebel)

- No power

Win Condition: The rebels control a majority of government, or a rebel is Grand Vizier.

Supreme Judge (loyalist)

- Can instantly force a decision during the court phase (2x)

Win Condition: All rebels eliminated, or the government is kept pure after all protesters are recruited.

Supreme Judge (rebel)

Win Condition: The rebels control a majority of government, or a rebel is the Grand Vizier.

2x Janissary (rebel)

- One member of your faction may investigate a player during the intrigue phase and find out their allegiance
- One member of your faction may assassinate another player during the intrigue phase (Grand Vizier is immune).
- The rebels must collectively decide a player to accuse during the intrigue phase.

Win Condition: The rebels control a majority of government, or a member is a Grand Vizier.

Imam (protester)

- During the intrigue phase, you must select a third player to accuse or nominate as Grand Vizier. You are forbidden from sharing your choice with other players.
- If you are appointed to government or die, your role is transferred to another protester.

Win Condition: The rebels control a majority of government, or a rebel is Grand Vizier. If you are appointed to the government, then your win condition changes to the loyalists.

The Janissaries have organized a revolt among the minor nobility, who feel like they have been ignored by the current Sultan. They are demanding the head of the Grand Vizier Lithrasil and other prominent officials. Grand Vizier Lithrasil must appease the nobility by granting them offices, while being careful not to give any more power to the treasonous Janissaries.

-----------------------------

The first session of court begins! This phase will end once Lithrasil appoints two people to join the government (over private message), or will be chosen randomly on Saturday evening. You may start posting now.

Vote PookaMustard
So I can see why it's not RVS now. We've got two days to convince Lift of who to appoint into government. Now of course I have no idea how to do such thing. Personally I obviously see myself fit for government, and that would be enough to make me not want Lift's head.

I'd also pass progressive policies such as the ones advocated by Ber- oh wait, it's the Arabian middle ages.
I haven't a clue what I'm doing but I reckon GR is probably Hitler.

I'm just that good.
What is scum in this situation, rebels or both parties (rebels and loyalists)?

Since Grand Vizier is a loyalist and Pooka wants to serve in government so much he is either a rebel or a very active protester, because we have 3 loyalist roles already incl. Grand Vizier.
I only can imagine how Liftharasil is eager to appoint Pooka for a servitude.

Your excellence! Please choose wisely among your humble servants (bowing reverently)!
As for me I'm not fit for government service.

@All
Also I'm going to be parenthetical occasionally ;)
Aww, you ruined the pattern. It was Micro's turn to show up next...

1. PookaMustard ✓
2. SirPrimalForm ✓
3. Microfish_1
4. yogsloth
5.Cadaver747 ✓!??
6. ZFR

I'm trying to fully understand the rules.

So, as far as I see we have 7 protesters + 1 imam + 2 rebels + sultan Lift.

So at the moment we're all actually the "bad guys" and we all want the rebels to win?

Unless sultan selects you for government, that's when your win condition changes?

SirPrimalform:
I'm sorry but Pooka ruined the pattern from the very beginning.
Since you prefer to *stick* with the pattern you might be a good candidate for parliament... eh... government.

Vote SPF ;)

Cadaver747: I'm sorry but Pooka ruined the pattern from the very beginning.
How so? Pooka is player #1 and showed up first. I'm player #2 and showed up second.

Cadaver747: Vote SPF ;)
Uhhh... thanks?

Worst. Protester. Ever.

Pooka showed first, then he showed for a second time, and afterwards he dared to reply to you and show himself again.
Are you covering for him? Do you love our Grand Vizier or not?

ZFR: So, as far as I see we have 7 protesters + 1 imam + 2 rebels + sultan Lift.
I think that we have 12 people:
0. Zazak - Sultan (omnipotent person)
1. Lith - Grand Vizier (loyalist)
2. ??? - Commander of the Guard (loyalist)
3. ??? - Supreme Judge (loyalist)
4. ??? - Commander of the Guard (rebel)
5. ??? - Supreme Judge (rebel)
6. ??? - Imam (protester)
7. ??? - Minor Nobility (protester)
8. ??? - Minor Nobility (protester)
9. ??? - Minor Nobility (protester)
10.??? - Minor Nobility (protester)
11.??? - Minor Nobility (protester)

That's odd we should have 7 minor protesters, not 5.
Does it mean that we have unemployed loyalists???
