If you guys could talk with Valve and see if they'll allow Portal to be sold here on GOG that would be awesome. The reason I ask is because I don't really care for the Steam service. (The interface of that stupid app tends to be really slow and buggy.) If you are able to manage it then, YAY! If not, oh well I can wait. Thanks!
And on that day, pigs will fly, and Satan will be skating to work...

Well, I can try to talk to Valve but I think they will not answer me. :(
Yeah, I don't think that'll happen. Valve is VERY exclusive about its games.
Pretty much what jefequeso said. I don't mind Steam, but I can see where people would get annoyed about having to go through a middle man to play games.

If you're talking about the first Portal, I'd just grab it one of the weeks where they are giving it away for free and bear with Steam for the few hours (it's a fairly short game) it takes to complete it.
Not at all. I've never had a problem with the Steam interface with being slow and buggy. Are you sure it's not your computer?
I looked into the future through my crystal ball and saw an image of the day on which Portal is released on GOG.

Hey hey, he's new here, guys. Be nice.

They're right, though. Portal is too new (well, in theory) and since Valve already has Steam there's virtually no reason to let it be DRM-free. Now, if you had said Lucasarts in instead of Valve...
I'd love to see Valve's games here too, but they're almost as unlikely to show up here as Nintendo franchises. Almost.
The only Valve games I'd want to see, are the original Half-Life and its expansions. The Steam releases of those are butchered.
Wouldn't it be beautiful if by some licensing balls up, this actually happened. You can imagine the GOG announcement:

This is triumph, we're making a note here HUGE success.

In some ways even more unlikely, Nintendo doesn't have a competing PC DD store.

Unless Valve buys GOG.

I'm going to have nightmares tonight, thanks. D=
I wonder if OP didn't realise that Steam is owned by Valve? See - Steam, Valves, Steamworks - see what they did there?
Actually, with all this talk of Steam maybe they should make a Steampunk FPS - Chaos Engine 2 - this time its 3D or something, could be cool!
