I just saw a IGN article about GSC making Cossacks 3.

It isn't the same "Cossacks III" which was cancelled years ago, but more a Cossacks European Wars remake. It's not bad though, because it proves GSC are back and the Cossacks series is still alive!

This is fantastic news! Thanks for sharing the link. I hope they manage to find the way to reduce the micro-managment. Leading several thousand troops in real time was and continues to be a pain.
Oh good, I can get my ass handed to me for a 3rd time! XD

Seriously, I love the series but man oh man those games are HARD!!!!!! :P I wholly recommend Cossacks to anyone up for a challenge.
I can't wait! I had so much fun playing the second game as a kid.

Can't wait for it. I can still remember the time when I first played Cossacks: European Wars. Great game series. Also the first time I saw any morale system implemented in a rts game.
As someone who loves American Conquest, where do I start, in terms of Cossacks? And there's a Cossacks II? Didn't know that :P
Played it only once (I know, shame on me) almost 13 years ago.

Well it depends what you like to play. Cossacks: European Wars is the first game in the series and includes four campaigns. 16 nations to choose from. There can be up to 8.000 units on the map.

Art of War is a standalone addon that adds two more nations (Bavaria and Denmark), five new campaigns and up to 16 times larger maps.

Back to War is another standalone expansion that adds another two nations (Switzerland and Hungary). It adds new maps and around 100 skirmish missions where you have to do certain things to win. Unfortunately gog does not offer the retail version of Back to War that included Back to War expansion + all the campaigns from European Wars and Art of War which would make the choice what to install easier.

Also one important difference between the games is that in Cossacks: European Wars canon production number is not limited while in the addons canon numbers have been significantly limited to make the game more historically accurate and prevent canon spam subsequently making the game more realistic.

Actually you can install campaigns. You should get the fan-made Ultimate Pack:

Has anyone asked them if it will be steam exclusive or not? Nowadays almost every game is on Steam except EA and a couple of niche studios like Slitherine. Asking at least will make them aware that there is interest in other services, not just steam.

Cossacks 3 release will be for now Steam exclusive.

I asked the devs about the game release here and this was their answer:

Hi. We do not plan to release Cossacks 3 on GOG this year. Only on Steam and retail versions.
Thanks.
