As promised, it's time for another contest. This time it might be hard as we're testing your good old gaming knowledge. We've prepared a crossword puzzle (also attached to this post) where the answers we're looking for concern games you can find in GOG's catalogue. If you think you got all the answers (or as many as you can get) send the list of words from the crossword to users@gog.com until Tuesday, October 12 11:59 p.m. EDT.

From all correct entries we will pick 3 winners:
the winner will receive Strategy First catalogue
1st runner up will receive the games from TopWare catalogue
2nd runner up, thanks to our friends at PC Gamer, will receive a PC Gamer UK subscription.

Ready, set, go!

EDIT: The crossword appeared so difficult that even our testers have made a mistake ;). The answer for 17 down was supposed to be "Keepers", but we made it "Watchers" ;p. We won't take into account the answer for 17 down.
Sorry about that and good luck with the rest!

This difficulty spike on level 19 is appalling. It’s almost like they never playtested this puzzle!

Cardian: Look through the posts here. There are many hints to that particular one.
thanks, i found one hint that confirmed my answer as the correct one ^^

now the only thing left is the 17/19 problem everybody has ...
They should just add another one that connects with 17. Maybe even one that connects with 19, to be sure. They can make them hard, but not this random...
Has 17 something to share with a famous item of the movie Top Secret?

Even using this tool: http://www.visca.com/regexdict/ I couldn't find anything that really felt right (Just a few that was realy far fetched).

Myxia: EDIT:
Wait, does 17 down have one too many letters?

Cook: 17 down is ok :)
WRONG. Cook, that was just plain lazy. And WRONG. And do you see what that laziness has caused? That's right, there's 5 PAGES of people who have discovered that #17 is totally screwed-up top to bottom. They know what #19 is - they know it begins with a "T" - and you and I both know they're right. But you've caused so much confusion with your careless confirmation that some of the more starry-eyed users have succumb to wildly over-thinking it, incorrectly lending false justification to the original GOG.com author's poor, lazy Engrish.

Yes, that's right, I said ENGRISH - because that's what it is. Those browsing this site from either the US or UK have the consistent misfortune of needing to read through GOG.com staffers' broken English, so it shouldn't exactly be surprising that said staff can't correctly construct a puzzle utilizing proper English. It's not their first language, after all, and they're not linguists.

As a professional writer, GOG.com's daily assault on the English language that I love so dearly is particularly annoying. Still, I put up with it because there's no place quite like GOG.com, and where else am I going to get a $10 copy of "World of Xeen" that works on Vista? But I digress.

Cook, you need to correct this obvious error and apologize to us for not giving the correct response in Post #4. Contact the author of the puzzle, work this out, and get us an updated puzzle that makes some damn sense! NOW!

Crud. There is no way I could ever do this one, because I have played very, very few games on this site. Even if I could completely figure it out, I would personally prefer the 1st runner up prize.

Yeah, that blank page isn't really helpful, shame :\

.. or just simply add another crossing word to the puzzle to create one crossword from these two. :P

you can find out most of the answers with google, i played only 3 of the games that are used for this days contest, and 2 of them i played years ago and didnt know the answers from my knowledge, and the one i knew because of my knowledge you can research very easy (that was number 16 btw)

Oh yeah. I didn't think about that...
I finished it, but 19 across has little to do with the game (at least the one that comes to mind immediately ). It fits however :8]

Eli, calm down. Yes, maybe there IS something wrong with number 17, but you have ZERO right to berate Cook for it. Insults and abuse will accomplish NOTHING. You didn't pay to enter this contest, neither are you required to.

I do believe there is a crucial part of this puzzle missing. The T-variant for 19 Across fits. It's obvious. I am going to assume it's correct. 17 however is a problem. I'll probably end up sending it in with 17 missing, but I do wish they'd do SOMETHING, maybe expand the hint. Though that might be unfair to people who have already sent it in.

I suspect that Eli was not being entirely serious in his reply.

I know. I used that too with ^[a-z]{2}[tm][a-z]{5}$ and limiting the answers to nouns and adjectives, and I got 918 results, none of which seem to have any connection to the game. I can only conclude that the answer is "bathrobe". The cult of storms fights against the bathrobe.
