MaxFulvus: First of all, Happy birthday to you and thank you for being a great member on the forum.
And thanks for being an awesome guest and stopping by. :)

avatar
MaxFulvus: Tell us what you would like to do if you could go into space : It's stupid, but i would like to pee in weightlessness ! That's would be crazy to see (no idea if i can bring an umbrella in a spaceship ?), even if it's not a good idea in community !
Lol.....that sounds so silly, but possibly fun too.

avatar
MaxFulvus: Regarding Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams", i think it's one of his best song and the less offensive for most people ( but don't ride a pig, please, it could be dangerous) !
No worries, I won't be riding around atop any farm animals at any point ever.

avatar
MaxFulvus: I'm not a trekkie, as I never been really attracted by this universe (even the new films don't really catch my attention) but the Elite Force games seem to use the best of Quake 3 engine, so I'm in for the Trek Game credit if I may.

Not in for Shadow Man, I already have it and it is excellent, even more if you play it without any map, just for the challenge of not being lost between the portals.
The Elite Force Games are some nice ones......*GR makes a few scribbles in his guest book*......there, now you're all set. Good luck and all that fun stuff. :)

avatar
MaxFulvus: I'm also in for the Special Prize Draws (just started Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2 is on my wishlist for a while).
Wait......you don't own Dark Forces 2?

*GR turns to his assistant* "Did you hear that.....he doesn't own Dark Forces 2! I know, I know.....it is a travesty and it simply must be corrected at once!"

*GR turns back to MaxFulvus, who gets handed a small red colored card with black text on it.* On it are the words: check your party (private) messages

idbeholdME: Jump around on a very low gravity planet and just float for several seconds before landing. Zero G is fun and all, but it would have to be in a controlled environment. Don't want to end up drifting through space endlessly :P
Well yeah, no human(or most AI....poor Wheatley) I know of would want that.

avatar
idbeholdME: Not bad, but still prefer the original. I'm not really into Manson, but one cover song I find pretty good from him is Halloween.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU6iP0WLsU8
Ooooh, thanks for the link. I love the original version of that song, so i'm gonna give that cover a go in a bit. :)

avatar
idbeholdME: Happy upcoming BDay.

I'm not much of a trekkie, but as an FPS game enjoyer, I'll try my luck at the Trek game credit. Leave me out of the Shadow Man one, as I already have it.
Your name has been noted where it need be, and you're all set for the upcoming draws. Until then: the night is young and the party still in full swing. So have fun, mingle, as we wait to see who the lucky ones will be. :)

Cadaver747: Star Trek wasn't showed on our local television until maybe late 90s - early 00s, only super rich people got access to US media and even they rarely watch it since the only storage for video at the time was VHS cassette (only a couple episodes just for one cassette is insane).
So the parodies and memes about that are true?!? Craaaaazy world, eh? And oh well, at least now people can access the net and watch whatever :)

avatar
Cadaver747: We got Babylon V instead and it was a blast!
Yeah, i've seen bits of the series(old and new)....and they seemed very nice.

avatar
Cadaver747: I personally watched some episodes from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager. I think my favorite episode would be TNO s03e19 - Captain's Holiday. This episode is light hearted and I laughed a bit when beautiful half naked woman with the ball approached poor Picard trying desperately to read his book. And Vash, she is a real beauty. TNO s06e21 - Frame of Mind is another episode I liked, contrary to the one mentioned previously this one is very dark, psychological thriller was a pleasant surprise, too bad the ending was too simple and happy, I would leave a place for a doubt if it's real or not to the very end.
Thanks for the recommendations.....gonna look into em a bit later.

avatar
Cadaver747: I would travel to Idryll and help them to *advance* their civilization, I think Humans and Idryll is a perfect mix.
How generous of you to help with interstellar diplomacy. ;)

avatar
Cadaver747: We usually get drunked/stoned/whatever, eat a lot of meat with potato (bad for your sleep) and then even more sweets like icecream (I would rather eat Italian Gelato but it's almost impossible to get by here) and chocolate. Then after the required condition level is reached we get some fresh air before going to play each other or cooperatively in some video games, and it's a common courtesy to be funny and tell the jokes. Nothing special.
Nothing special?!? Most of that sounds like loads of fun :D
(i mean I don't drink much, as too much alcohol and me often don't go together well)

avatar
Cadaver747: Checked the video from the link. Well, I watched the original video clip of Marilyn Manson and the movie long time ago. Well, some years ago the music was quite nice (but not anymore), the movie premise was great but in the end it left me somewhat disappointed. Nothing spectacular.
Eh, it happens....some movies/music aren't for everyone. Btw, if i may ask: what do you think of the new music in Post#69?

avatar
Cadaver747: Star Trek: Elite Force I & II probably were the last true single player FPS games, major developers don't produce such games anymore, I would strongly advise anyone to get them and play, they could be a bit pricey but they worth every penny in my opinion.
If you mean Trek FPS games, then yeah....not many seem to come out anymore(though I have played and somewhat like the game based on the newer films). And yeah, they are a bit pricey(silly IP holders couldn't even give us a discount for the release ;D), but still worth it.

avatar
Cadaver747: NOT IN for personal reasons.
K....btw, thanks for showing up and making such a nice post.

Also, you may still enjoy the party if you want....there's plenty of nice people to chat with and possible amusements to partake in.

avatar
Cadaver747: P.S. LOL, you were uprated in the beginning but only after a few hours *they* came for your reputation, the savages. What have you done to *them* I wonder, opened up and spoke your mind, huh? Bad GameRanger!
Naaaaaah....they simply know that red is one of the themes of the party and are putting up festive decorations in my honor, is all....yeah, that's totally what's going on. :)

On that note(*GR lifts yet another glass*): on to -5000!

Yeah, Doc is pretty awesome that way(in fact, his generosity is part of why I started my own contests long ago).

As for the UTF8 not working: *GR makes a note of one more reason who the forums need updating/replacing*

Thanks for the contest!
I am not much of a ST expert, I used to read the comics and watched a few things on the telly, mainly TNG crew. I have watched the first seasons with my flatmates who are Spock and Kirk's aficionados. Recently I've watched the Picard series on Amazon and it was meh tbh. But I'm happy there's a "new" shooter by old Raven Studio in the store.

Anyway, I'll leave the Star Trek entries to the real Trekkies™, and already have Shadow Man Classic! So I'll be in for a random prize, if I may.

4 This year I barely had a birthday, I just made a cake to share with the few people who are in my life now. But last year I was invited to the seaside to my best friend's place - I could not afford holidays and was expecting to remain in the city all Summer. We went on the beach for a night baths, she gifted me a beautiful dress and she bought me a nice dinner and a cake, and another friend who was in the area and I hadn't seen in a while joined us. The most beautiful thing though was to be with her and her cute dogs, one of which is a crazy no-stop kisser

5 the music video, or film excerpt: well it's very 90s. I have watched a few Vincent Price movies but I didn't know the original of which this was a remake. I might like that kind of horror to watch in company, I bet it's cheesy and not really scary - I'm a scaredy cat. For sure in 1999 I was quite the Manson fan and even had their logo patch on my very 90s army baggy trousers. Now I don't listen to them/him anymore. As for Sweet Dreams, I prefer the Eurythmics version. I'm listening to Ultravox a lot, but it might be time to run through some Eurythmics classics again. Sorry if I jump from one topic to another, it's my prerogative.

Are you sure? Well, I guess our family was one of those "super rich", since we did have VHS player/recorder around the time Babylon 5 was first airing and I watched mentioned Star Trek: Generations movie on the cassette. Also, our town had for some reason a couple of Polish channels, one of them running Deep Space Nine. Though I didn't understand much due to the language barrier.

What do you mean by original clip being by Merlin Menson?

*matterbandit steps into the lavishly decorated hall aboard this starship and immediately locates the open bar*

The bartender is dressed in Star Trek uniform, as are most of the party guests. Many balloons and banners everywhere! And cheers of "Happy Birthday GR!" can be heard here and there.

"I pressed the Random Destination button on my portal machine and it beamed me here, to this party, randomly!" I told the bartender. "I'm no Trekkie though. Can I stay?"

"Of course!," insisted the bartender. He glides a bowl of walnuts towards me and a nutcracker. "Pick a walnut. Crack it open. Answer the question within and you'll be added to the party guest list."

I pick a walnut and crack it open. I unfold a piece of paper and read the question to the bartender: "What would you like to do if you go into space?"

"Well...," I told the bartender. "If I go into space, I'd like to locate E.T. and tell him I miss him, a lot. Then I'd ask E.T. to come back to Earth with me so that he can cure the planet of coronavirus with his magic finger."

The bartender smiled and said, "Welcome to this birthday bash! What would you like to drink?"

"Oh, if there's one cocktail I'm dying to try...," I leaned closer towards him. "It's gotta be Captain Kirk's Alien Sex on a Beach! Please."

Shake, shake, shake and ready! The bartender hands me the notorious cocktail just as I spotted birthday boy GR mingling with the other party guests not too far from where I was standing.

*with cocktail in hand, matterbandit greets GR with birthday wishes, thanks him for the generous festivities and puts in a request for the Party Favors*

Party Update

A few more party favors just got tossed onto the list in the OP post
=================================================

avatar
Dogmaus: Thanks for the contest!
I am not much of a ST expert, I used to read the comics and watched a few things on the telly, mainly TNG crew. I have watched the first seasons with my flatmates who are Spock and Kirk's aficionados.

Hmm, you've watched mainly TNG, and yer flatmates are into Kirk/Spock: that reminds me of this little musical number
(specifically 2:13, but the whole song is good)
avatar
Dogmaus: Recently I've watched the Picard series on Amazon and it was meh tbh. But I'm happy there's a "new" shooter by old Raven Studio in the store.
Yeah, i've heard some of the new series are less than stellar(har har), but eh....at least we still have all the old ones and the actually good new ones. :)

avatar
Dogmaus: This year I barely had a birthday, I just made a cake to share with the few people who are in my life now.
You made a cake? Nice....I often just buy one these days(irl issue and time constraints and all). Also if I may say so, that's nice of you to share it with others like that.

avatar
Dogmaus: But last year I was invited to the seaside to my best friend's place - I could not afford holidays and was expecting to remain in the city all Summer.

A party and other fun at the seaside? Sounds like fun. :D
(well as long as there's no kyller dolls)
avatar
Dogmaus: the music video, or film excerpt: well it's very 90s. I have watched a few Vincent Price movies but I didn't know the original of which this was a remake. I might like that kind of horror to watch in company, I bet it's cheesy and not really scary - I'm a scaredy cat.
Yeah, the original isn't too scary, and also: it's public domain and available to watch on sites like YT

avatar
Dogmaus: As for Sweet Dreams, I prefer the Eurythmics version. I'm listening to Ultravox a lot, but it might be time to run through some Eurythmics classics again. Sorry if I jump from one topic to another, it's my prerogative.
Yeah, the original version of that song is also very nice, as are other songs by that group. And no worries.....talk about what you will.....this IS a party and everyone is meant to have fun, after all. :)

avatar
Dogmaus: Anyway, I'll leave the Star Trek entries to the real Trekkies™, and already have Shadow Man Classic! So I'll be in for a random prize, if I may.
Done and done...and ya know what?

I'm feeling generous, and this was a splendid entry, so: feel free to pick a party favor from the list above, and i'll make sure my assistants get it to you asap

====

avatar
matterbandit: *matterbandit steps into the lavishly decorated hall aboard this starship and immediately locates the open bar*
Nitpick: It's actually a house (totally NOT haunted) which just so happens to also be a starship, sitting atop a hill (also not haunted)

avatar
matterbandit: I pick a walnut and crack it open.

GR says with a smile "We have Mac from 'Mac and Me'....that good enough for ya?"

avatar
matterbandit: "Oh, if there's one cocktail I'm dying to try...," I leaned closer towards him. "It's gotta be Captain Kirk's Alien Sex on a Beach! Please."

Shake, shake, shake and ready! The bartender hands me the notorious cocktail just as I spotted birthday boy GR mingling with the other party guests not too far from where I was standing.
Nice little drinks list....thanks for posting it. :)

avatar
matterbandit: *with cocktail in hand, matterbandit greets GR with birthday wishes, thanks him for the generous festivities and puts in a request for the Party Favors*
GR bows briefly and says "Your wish is my command.....as with Dogmaus, your entrance was so good you may go ahead and pick one game from the list of party favors"

Some of the others look at GR and remind him of his very own rules about the party favors, to which he adds
"Eh, what can I say....things can change now and then....i'm whacky eccentric!" before starting to dance around a bit.

====

GR then says "Speaking of the handing out of party favors, you have won the first random party favors pick"

avatar
bluethief: ...
As such you may feel free to pick a party favor from the list in the OP post, and it shall be brought to your table toot sweet.

GamezRanker: Well, first of all happy almost birthday!
Second, thanks for this opportunity!
Third, I'm in!
3. Tell us what you would like to do if you could go into space
(like in Star Trek or similar shows/media)
Well, I would like to go to visit Ross 128 b, one of the nearest habitable planets.

4. Tell us how you/your locale like to celebrate birthdays, and/or any special/fun/interesting things you or someone you know did for a recent birthday.
As an argentinian, we like big parties, with a lot of friends and family, plenty of drink and food, music and the visit of the police at least 2 times in the night :D

5. (optional, but appreciated) Watch the birthday music video link above near the top of this post, and let me know what ya think.
I watched the original movie and think it was really good, Sweet Dreams performed by Manson suits very well to the scene, very 90s.
avatar
GamezRanker: So the parodies and memes about that are true?!? Craaaaazy world, eh? And oh well, at least now people can access the net and watch whatever :)
Which one? I saw only one back in the day and didn't get the meaning, my brother was laughing though, it was something about Picard addressing Mr. Data. Yes, currently even Russia has access to Netlix, crazy times.
avatar
GamezRanker: Yeah, i've seen bits of the series(old and new)....and they seemed very nice.
No, you don't see bit of the series from Babylon V, you have to watch them all because some details are crucial and each episode is a part of the whole story, not just separate independent situations like in some other television series. There are only 4 main seasons + 5th extra season, so I don't quite get what you meant by "old" and "new". If by "new" you meant Babylon V spin-off Crusade that was not very successful on so many levels.
avatar
GamezRanker: Thanks for the recommendations.....gonna look into em a bit later.
I disagree, if you haven't watched Star Trek series then there is no point in watching some independent episodes. II would recommend to watch them all starting from original series. Believe it's not a big deal to watch 1 episode per day.
avatar
GamezRanker: How generous of you to help with interstellar diplomacy. ;)
Oh yes of course, the *diplomacy*, that was my initial intention no doubt in that.
avatar
GamezRanker: Nothing special?!? Most of that sounds like loads of fun :D
(i mean I don't drink much, as too much alcohol and me often don't go together well)
I don't consume alcohol or tobacco, but there are some other ways to reach the elevated state if you get my drift (it's legal in some states and countries). The most important part is to be among your friends or close ones which ARE pleasant people and have fun together doing what you like the most.
avatar
GamezRanker: Eh, it happens....some movies/music aren't for everyone. Btw, if i may ask: what do you think of the new music in Post#69?
Don't get me wrong, the movie was nice. Many other horror-like movies are much worse. I watched so many different movies about haunted house in hopes to find the my personal gem, it's hard to appease me if it's about that type of movies, that's all.
The music clip from #69 was nice, I think I saw it before on local MTV channel, but maybe I'm wrong.
avatar
GamezRanker: If you mean Trek FPS games, then yeah....not many seem to come out anymore(though I have played and somewhat like the game based on the newer films). And yeah, they are a bit pricey(silly IP holders couldn't even give us a discount for the release ;D), but still worth it.
I mean FPS games in general, those were spectacular games. After that FPS genre was in decline till I think 2007 and then died. I mean there are plenty of FPS games out there, so many people are happy with Borderlands, Bioshock and Call of Duty/Battlefield franchises, but not me. Prey (2017) was the only exception (and I had to invest a couple of hours only to realize that) yet it Bethesda was not very pleased to consider producing more games like this.
avatar
GamezRanker: Naaaaaah....they simply know that red is one of the themes of the party and are putting up festive decorations in my honor, is all....yeah, that's totally what's going on. :)
You mean orange, right?

Ruvika: Well, I would like to go to visit Ross 128 b, one of the nearest habitable planets.
With or without the (likely) Xenomorphs? o.0 ;)

avatar
Ruvika: As an argentinian, we like big parties, with a lot of friends and family, plenty of drink and food, music and the visit of the police at least 2 times in the night :D
And I bet they totally don't show up just to get free food and drink. ;D

Jokes aside, that sounds like fun....if I didn't have so many mental issues i'd probably love to have such a big fun party(minus the po-po needing to show up, that is).

avatar
Ruvika: I watched the original movie and think it was really good, Sweet Dreams performed by Manson suits very well to the scene, very 90s.
Glad you liked it. :)

avatar
Ruvika: Third, I'm in!
For which drawings, though, if I may ask? For Shadow Man classic? For the Star Trek game credit? Or both draws?

We received our VHS player I think in 1991, all tapes were illegal until I think some rare examples in expensive stores in 1997. You watched the Star Trek movie on a cassette and that's great, I was talking about Star Trek series though:

Cadaver747: ...only a couple episodes just for one cassette is insane...

(bolded bit) True enough, and I actually do watch a number of series in order.......but with trek series the episodes are often made in such a way that I can often enjoy single episodes in any order.

Dunno about MTV, but it's also featured in the game 'The Darkness'.

Yes, what I meant is that the Eurythmics clip was the original. And Manson just made his own cover.
avatar
LootHunter: Yes, what I meant is that the Eurythmics clip was the original. And Manson just made his own cover.
Eurythmics song was the original song, not the clip. It's hardly a news when some performer do a cover.
*matterbandit observes GR twirling about the grand hall busting silly dance moves*

He held a Vulcan Death Grip cocktail in one hand and a Spock's Mind Meld Mojita in the other. None of the Trekkie and non-Trekkie partygoers judged poor crazy GR. Afterall, he was celebrating his birthday!

"I'm a whacky eccentric!" GR exclaimed. I can smell hints of rum and mint and gin in the air. "Your entrance was so good, you may pick one game from the list of Party Favors."

"Really?!" Now it was I who was staring at the cocktail glass in my hand. Was I drunk already? Did Captain Kirk's Alien Sex on a Beach impair my hearing? Did GR say I can pick a game? I could barely hear him speak because the deejay was blasting Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams through the speakers.

"Webbed," I made an attempt to talk over the music. "If it hasn't been claimed yet, I'd be interested in Webbed."

GR nodded at me. I was unsure if he nodded because he heard me or was just nodding to the music, but one thing was very clear to me: the cheer of Trekkie cocktails was plastered all over his giddy face. ;)

*GR starts to have some giant(maybe alien) spiders brought in, when he sees the shocked look on matterbandit's face*

"I said webbed.....WEBBED" MB says, to which GR motions to his assistants to wrangle the giant spiders back into their pens.

"Oh, my mistake" GR says, before whispering something to one of his assistants. After they whisper something back, GR continues "Check your party message box in a bit, and do feel free to continue enjoying the party some more, if you so wish"
