WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is coming soon, DRM-free.

You are Outlander. Once adrift upon the Ageless Sea, you now find yourself on the shores of a dying world. From the consuming darkness emerges a figure cloaked in white, the Shepherd of Wayward Souls, who burdens you with the task of hunting down the remaining Guardians of the Old World. You must journey into the vast gloom to explore ancient ruins, discover forgotten secrets and battle the horrors that lurk within.

Fueled by legendary Quake 1 technology, the veins of WRATH pump with the DNA of revered '90s shooters. WRATH embraces the timeless elements of classic titles such as DOOM, QUAKE, DUKE NUKEM 3D, BLOOD, UNREAL and HEXEN and carries them into the 21st century.

Magmarock: Lol some isn't very good at shooters.

groze: Lol someone is a douche canoe.

This is precisely my point. I didn't need to be "good at shooters" to enjoy them. I could be whatever I wanted to be and no one made me feel bad for it. It's a freaking video game, who cares if you're good or bad? As far as I'm concerned, you have to suck at life to try and make up for it by being "good" at video games, a completely irrelevant skill.

I don't think I'm particularly bad at shooters, I'm about average, but, then again, I wouldn't really know, because I never played any of them competitively or even online. But that's my issue with this: I know A LOT of people who just liked playing these kinds of games while we were growing up but we were never a part of any "scene", we just liked video games, we weren't obsessed with them and we didn't build our lives around them. We didn't keep tabs on how long we played, we played until we decided to play something else.

And if the hardcore FPS "scene" fan reaction to an honest concern by a more casual fan of the genre is "lol some [sic] isn't very good at shooters", then I'm glad I'm not a part of any "video game scene".
You're assuming entirely too much, and no where in the reveal trailer did it say anything about appealing to Hardcore Shooter Fans.

And I don't think any "Fan" gives a shit about your reaction, or your apparent want to be crap at "Old School Shooters."

If you post with the intention of initiating fights, you're ah .... well, no one can help you but yourself. Your two posts have slight hints of virtue signaling for no apparent reason at all. Other than to attack (Or wait to be attacked) "Old School Shooter Players" or something?

Hopefully this releases without any issues. It looks great.

ShadowWulfe: It looks great.
A testament to John Carmack's coding ability that the Quake engine, decades on from its initial introduction to the world, can still look pretty impressive in the hands of competent developers.

idbeholdME: That's why you usually have a difficulty selection when starting a new game.
So why is he being so salty then?

groze: This actually looks nice and doesn't seem to have that much in the way of system requirements, unlike Amid Evil. The art design, especially the weapons, looks WAY better than whatever Dusk is trying to do. I'm wishlisting this, for sure.

Sadly, developed by "Quake scene devs" probably means it's another one of those highly competitive FPSes catering to the "über l33t pr0s" from back in the day, the modders, the speedrunners, the "Good Old Entitled Elitists", and, once again, people like me, who just... you know... liked the games? will be left with a game that could be good but it's only geared towards the "h4rdc0r3". Seriously, devs out there, just make a game EVERYONE can enjoy, already. Amid Evil could potentially be that game, but the sys reqs are downright ridiculous, Dusk is clearly not it, Ion Maiden (or whatever they'll call it, after the lawsuit) is and isn't -- it's not even a "proper" Build engine game, it's made by the EDuke32 guys, so it used that "source port" version of Build that's poorly optimized: Build would have ran flawlessly on my PC, their highly modified version of it just... doesn't.

Sorry for the rant, it's just that I'm getting really tired of all the retro-ish FPS overload, and none of them seems to take the more casual fans into consideration. Not everyone out there is a speedrunner who ejaculates at the thought of modding a game.
If you're that bad at FPSes, then play the game at the lowest or second lowest difficulty. I'm certainly not going to judge you or think you are a bad person for doing so. Most people on GOG won't, outside a few loud trolls.

Magmarock: First Amid Evil, then Dusk, Prodeus, Iron Maiden and now this. GOG is getting quite the list of games. I want all of them you hear... ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!
Still kinda wish we got Wrack too. :/
Wrath looks great so far, got that dark and gloomy feeling it should when embracing some Lovecraftian styles and it reminds me of Quake 1.5 with the weapons positions and solid controlling. i do agree on here that Amid Evil is quite taxing with it's effects but still is a great game.

I have a feeling this will be purchasable before DUSK is on here. and with that, if I could pre-buy right now I most likely would since NB is taking forever with their GOG version of DUSK.

Definitely keep an eye on this one

I'll be getting both. Question is. Should I lower difficulty so I can speed finish them.

Anyone curious about how Wrath looks/plays (as of ~3 weeks ago at E3) - here's a video of 3D Realms/Interceptor VP Fred Schreiber playing it while being interviewed by Gamespot employees

Things of note:
- Technical issues cause the gameplay to cease entirely for a bit near the end
- He turns on God mode because he gets overwhelmed
- A bug or something similar prevents him from picking up a fresh/new weapon that he wanted to show off

With Dusk, at least you'll be getting the completed product when it releases vs. waiting out the development cycle.
I excited.

blotunga: Looks like Quake
Not brown enough to be Quake.
Does it support cross-platform play?

That build is actually older than the one at PAX. The 20 minute PAX gameplay video we put out is that most recent stuff we've revealed - we're keeping the new stuff under wraps ;)

Fred was unable to pick up the new weapon because when he enable god mode it also gave him all weapons.

Sounds right - when looking for videos of how it played I just went with what seemed most recent in terms of uploaded videos.

Also, the God mode preventing the weapon from being picked up makes sense. I guess it was just slipping Fred's mind during the interview gameplay that it would've spoiled his intention to show off things in the fashion he wanted to.
