Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure is coming soon DRM-free.

Crazy cultists. Cthulhu. A talking cat. Gibbous takes you on an expansive, traditionally animated, hand-painted adventure. Play as three protagonists and explore a lushly rendered Lovecraft-inspired world, unraveling ancient conspiracies. A comedy cosmic horror adventure made in Transylvania!
Looks absolutely awesome. Will instabuy.

tinyE: Which is of course the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Cthulhu. :P

mintee: lol btw, does anyone actually know how to pronounce that?
You are not suppoed to be able to pronounuce it clealy. Lovecraft's idea is that The Great One's name is really unpronounceable by humans.
As for the game, Lovecraft based games are sort of a dime a dozen nowdays, and I eant to see the reviews before I buy this one.

Yes, there are kind of a lot; did you like any of them in particular?
Wishlisted.

True, but how many incorporate humour and a talking cat? ;-) (Not to mention hand drawn animations, a cameo from 'The Witcher' himself and four hours of soundtrack featuring live instruments).

Lovecraft himself pronounced something like Kuh-THOO-loo when he spoke, but apparently stated in his letters that it should be more like Khlul’-hloo.

Generally I use a form Kha-thu-lu

A little bit more about the devs and the idea behind the game. Imo it also shows how much passion and love the devs poured into this product. And it features a lot of cats as well.

Where did you get the price? Afaik nothing is said officialy yet but imo it is likely given the fact that we are talking about a rather big game with many handdrawn backrounds, frame by frame animation and self composed music played with live instruments. A lot of work went into this.

So as I said 19.99 is likely even though not 100% certain ... and then there's the launch discount.
Btw. price for backers back then was about $15.
$20 is definitely fine, they have put a lot of work in this game.

I agree, that's more than fine! It's ridiculous how the value of the work that goes into a good game, has declined so much in people's appreciation over the past decade.

Most mid-budget indie games never break the 10,000 sales barrier, I've heard. How many people would it take to create a game like this in a year, maybe two? There are programmers, designers, artists definitely full-time; then testers, writers, voice actors, sales and marketing at the bare minimum. Sum up an average salary for each to be able to get by, and compare to how much money might go to the entire team per sale. A game that took this much effort, selling at $20, they need to shift a lot of copies to break even. The majority of indie games never do! I wish these people the best of luck to become one of the exceptions.

When I grew up playing PC games, anything that sold for less than $70 was considered a budget title. I think the prices were appropriate then (deducting a little bit for today's lack of physical manufacturing and distribution). But we also didn't have the chance to buy 30 new games every day, so we made sure to pick wisely and make that $70 investment last.
