Lone_Scout: I love the Expeditions series.
Same, really looking forward to again dump a considerable amount of hours into this.
And I haven't even played Vikings yet... there's just too much of everything :D
I've never played this series is it good? Is it super heavy on the management-sim stuff, if there is any.
Also is it historically kinda accurate? I'm shit at history so it'd be fun to learn actual stuff while playing.

Also the guy in the Expeditions: Rome banner pic looks like Ramsay Bolton.
Glad Expeditions is still around. Looking forward to it.

I only played the first game, Conquistador, and enjoyed it a lot. Was not heavy on management at all. It was most like.. I don't know, King's Bounty in a historical setting? Something like that. As for accuracy, it was somewhere in the middle-ground I'd say. You know, not nearly as bollocks nonsensical like Assassin's Creed, but not exactly a reliable tool for learning history either.

The first game Expeditions: Conquistador contains the heavy management stuff. There's no hub worlds, it's all one gigantic overland map sprinkled with special encounters. You're left to explore and figure things out for yourself. The second game Expeditions: Viking is much more of a traditional RPG, leading you along a string of hub worlds where the quest givers are packed together. Both games can be classified as historical fiction, which is my favourite literary genre (think Sharpe, The Saxon Stories, etc). A fictional character/s are inserted into history and is able to take part as long as they conform to the standards of the time and act like they belong there. They cannot use 21st century knowledge to solve their problems for example. Larger events (outcomes of major battles) are generally set in stone, but the details can be changed. In Conquistador Hernán Cortés mysteriously disappears during his expedition to Mexico, so you're the one who has to take over and fulfil his historical role.

I love the series and would say both games are great, though the different styles leave each player with their preference.
Day 1, i can't wait! ;D
Barf fuel music, holy shit.
