Tugging at the threads of fate.

EITR, a combat-intensive tale woven within the intriguing tapestry of Norse mythology, is coming soon, DRM-free, to GOG.com.

When Loki the trickster god tampered with your Shield Maiden's fate, he forever upset the balance maintained by the great tree Yggdrasil. Study your opponents' moves, strike with cunning and vigor, and discover the destiny bestowed upon you. EITR's innovative experience system lets you choose between the safety of permanent upgrades or the gamble of powerful ones that disappear upon death, like tears in rain.

Watch the trailer.

Remarkable Experience System: Eitr replaces the traditional experience point structure of an action RPG with the unique Favor System, requiring a choice between permanent level upgrades and more powerful but fleeting perks that can be upon death.

Lemon_Curry: I'm guessing it's supposed to say 'that can be lost upon death'.
I was just about to note that.
This game has been in Steam limbo for years. Great to see some activity from it. If GOG's announcing it I can only assume the devs are finally serious about release. :)
Please for the love of The gaming god. Let there be a Linux version on this game :D
Edit: Just saw there is a linux version. Guess there is greatness in this world after all :)

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh !!!
Every chrismas for the past two years I have wanted progress for this game! Every year I have sked them on Twitter to please send out something new!!! And here we are!! SOMETHING NEW!
Oh, god, yes!!!

So much indie goodness coming to GOG, Ruiner, Sundered, now EITR... my wallet is most definitely ready to send its money your way, GOG and devs/publishers :P

As a side note, it certainly is nice to see an indie game "Coming soon" thread that is pretty much devoid of the oh-so-usual anti-indie anti-pixel-art diatribes (except for one single comment, so far, if I interpreted it correctly?).

Keep it going, GOG!

Happy gaming, everyone!

Why do this terrible pixel graphics in 2017?
We have POE, Tyranny, BG, and instead of making good eye-catching graphics they sell this.

Totally agree that it's great how GOG, unlike Hot Vapor ;), is a place where even games whose advertising budget doesn't equal their development one can get into the limelight.

Alright, so you can count me as #2. I wonder when game developers finally understand that the beauty of "retro pixel graphics" doesn't consist in huuuge pixels but in the hand-drawn feeling the games of our youth had. Incidentally, last night I completed Dex. That's how I would hope indie game graphics will look in the future. So - I love indie games, yet the gfx I saw in the EITR trailer definitely put me off.

Edit: typos.

Action RPG, pixels, Norse mythology - count me in, I'm definitely going to enjoy this one.
Looking forward to this game. Haven't heared much about it lately, that makes a release here a lot more exiting for me :D Good job, GOG!

Eh, the pixel art is decent enough, I'm more put off by the fact that most Indie devs fail to stick to a single consistent style. They all use this "retro" look, but then add about a dozen modern filters and light effects. I wish there was at least a way to toggle off the modern graphics features, for a true classic look. I know a few re-releases of classics have that option.

Anyway, the gameplay features and setting seem interesting enough, so I'll keep an eye on this one.

fronzelneekburm: Eitr. Splendid! Native German speakers will love that name! It sounds exactly like the German word for "pus".
Apparently it means something along the lines of "poison", so pus/eiter isn't that far off.

Huh, kind of wondered when this game was coming out after seeing footage of it years ago.

Looks great, will keep an eye on it.
Looks ok, my type of game but the gfx leave me cold....

I wish they actually had some style of their own to stick to. 90% of those pixelated indies have the same generic "retro" look. My personal dislike for pixelated graphics aside, I seriously can't look at something like Apotheon or Hollow Knight and then Eitr, and not see the latter as if not ugly, than at least boring and bland.
Not a big fan of overpixelated graphics, but this one is supposed to have a very good combat system, similar to Dark/Demon Souls. So definitely worth buying - provided the price makes sense, of course.
I've seen plain garbage "games" like "Lone Survivor" way overpriced just because the developer thinks he made a masterpiece. I assume this is not the case here, so for a decent price, count me in.
