Has anyone ever played this game? If so, how was it from your point of view?

If you haven't played it or even heard of it, here's a trailer with lots of gameplay footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoVKocr56Io

Lately I've been trying to re-discover games I missed out on way back when I was too busy or simply un-aware of what was out there. Around 2005 the next gen was rearing up and I believe 360 and Wii first came out that year, with PS3 in 2006. Cold Fear came out in 2005 on PS2 and I didn't even know it existed until it had been out a few years.

My guess is it's not exactly a resident evil, nor the best game in it's class, but definitely not the worst.

You can vote for it here if you haven't already and want to: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/cold_fear
It's definitely not terrible, the PS2 had a bunch of those survival horror games that weren't particularly great but acceptable.
You know, the Resident Evil-style tank control games.
This is a criminally underrated game.

I have both xbox and PC version and both control extremely well. It also has some great graphics, gore, level design and some wicked monsters.

I really enjoyed it as a cheap substitute of Resident Evil 4 but truth be told it makes Resident Evil 5 look like complete and utter shite.

Now I feel like buying some used PS2 games and a gaming rifle and handgun to play some on-the-rail shooters ;)

it was on ps2? I dread to think how it looked on ps2 haha.
I played it on pc and enjoyed it a lot. It's survival horror with better aiming. How you can see it is : it fits between the last survival horror RE en RE 4. It's more survival horror then RE 4, but it plays a bit more like a third person shooter then Code Veronica.
It was average by standards of 2011 (only took half a decade :))) so I assume in 2006 the game was rocking solid. I say go for it.
I played up until the end boss, who I couldn't beat. :P

Bit of a Resident Evil knockoff, right before RE4 did away with the fixed cameras (thank god). It's fun and exciting to an extent, but I got lost several times because I was able to easily retrace my steps all around the ship and other area I cannot remember.

If GOG could get it for 9.99 + OST, I might buy it (although unlikely, truth be told). The last GOG game I bought was Wizardry 8, and not even for myself (for a giveaway), so I'm a bit hypocritical like that.
It seems to get a lot of crap, but I played it on the PS2 and enjoyed it. One of those games that will never be timeless classics, and probably don't need to be actively sought out, but if you see it for cheap somewhere, you'll get your money's worth. Closer to Resident Evil 4 then Resident Evil 1, gameplay-wise, although nowhere near RE4 in terms of quality.

Ahh.. I really enjoyed it! The zombies are fast and vicious, the game only problem is the lack of a map.. But really worth the small price!

I've not played the pc version, but i remember the ps2 version made my ps2 heat up a lot and (at the time) looked amazing!

I also agree with what you said on the game - though, I never managed to complete it - cant remember why though. I'd definately buy it for pc if i found it cheap though!
