First closed beta access keys distributed today!

We're excited to announce the launch of the closed Windows and Mac OS X multiplayer beta of CD Projekt RED's board game tie-in to the universe of Geralt of Rivia - The Witcher Adventure Game. Participants of the closed beta program will be among the first to help test and refine some of the multiplayer components of our upcoming GOG Galaxy service. The number of beta access codes we'll send out today will be limited, and the recepients will be picked among the users who have pre-ordered The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.com (each selected participant will be getting a set of two keys: one for them and one to give away to a friend). With the distribution of next batches of invitations planned as the event advances, players interested in joining the tests can still navigate to GOG.com/Galaxy and sign up for a chance to participate.

The Witcher Adventure Game takes players on a journey across the world of the Witcher as they assume the roles of four distinct characters known from the books and video games: Geralt of Rivia, monster slayer; Triss Merigold, cunning sorceress; Yarpen Zigrin, dwarven warrior; and Dandelion, roguish bard. Each character has unique skills and multiple ways of overcoming obstacles - the choice is yours: do you fight your way to victory, call on your charm or try your hand at diplomacy? It's the true spirit of board gaming brought straight to your computer screen. Set in the mature and brutal world of The Witcher the game features 4 unique heroes with different skills and approaches to problem solving. With clear, simple rules and intuitive mechanics, tons of quest cards allow players to tell a new tale every time they play. Look adventure in the eye in a world you'll fall in love with!

The purpose of the beta is to test both The Witcher Adventure Game as well as some parts of the GOG Galaxy online infrastructure powering the multiplayer portion of the digitized board game. Over the course of the beta, new cards, mechanics and improvements will be added to polish the game further and deliver you the best possible experience - if you find yourself among the number of beta testers, please stay with us and check for updates regularly. We really do count on your feedback!

Finally, a short but important notice: while the beta is limited to the online portion of the game only, rest assured that the full game will also feature single-player modes such as “hot seat” and “human vs AI”. In other words yes, the game won't be exclusively multiplayer, and you will be able to play it offline, outside our optional GOG Galaxy client.

figgymanna: I thought Witcher 3 pre-order guaranteed you two beta keys.
Yes, this is correct - every user who pre-ordered TW3 on GOG will receive two keys: one for them and one for their friend. We're only just started sending the keys out, so they will be delivered in batches, to scale everything properly and offer best possible game stability and experience :). Nevertheless every person will receive their two keys and it's not going to be a very long wait - don't worry!

Grunker: So far, after trying 4 games, in every single one of them people have left after 3-4 turns maximum. I would blame them, but I think the frustration of having basically no idea how to play except for a few hints at launch is what is turning off the majority.
Be aware that there also seem to be quite a few forced disconnects at this point. I did try to play yesterday, and I did get disconnected a couple of times myself, even though I didn't want to.

But yes, setting up private games with specific people may be better :)
Few crash ;(
I played only one game so far.
And game always disconnected .

Grunker: I have no idea if the game is fun, because it is impossible to play unless you have three mates you can trust.

Seems I was more lucky than you. Got disconnected the first two times when I tried to play a game, but when it finally worked, I found a very nice player, who explained me the basics of the game (tutorial in the beginning wasn't very helpful). Once you understand the rules, the game is quite fun and I will certainly return to play some more and try the other characters as well.
I just got disconnected three! times, so it's probably a bad time to play this. :/
Tried about 6 times .. haven't got past the first turn yet . keeps crashing , looks pretty cool though :)

I also have a spare beta code if anyone wants it .

I don't know if it's related, but recently I have been getting "the connection was reset" message while browsing this website. Don't know if GOG has put new certificates in place or some other authentication, but it seems to be breaking web traffic. Also lost of couple of PMs, and I can't get Barefoot Essentials to update my shelf either.

I get randomly logged out when opening threads from the general forum page or clicking on links to game cards, promos and even trying to access my account, but Barefoot Essentials works fine for me, at least updating my wishlist on GOGWiki.
All right, this is completely unsupported, I assume, but I can throw this out here just in case a like-minded weirdo managed to solve it.

I'd forgotten that I had preordered The Witcher 3 and was reminded by the "welcome to Adventure beta" mail arriving in my inbox (good thing that, I was just thinking about whether or not I should preorder The Witcher 3). Anyhow, I got my keys, and wanted to try this twag thing out, utilising one of them.

Trouble is, the game is only on Windows and OS X at the moment, and I'm on Arch Linux. Hence completely unsupported. Not to be discouraged, I manage to install the Windows version in Crossover (strange, the installer crashed and I had to use /nogui, upon which it still spewed error message after error message at me but seemed to install, haven't ever needed that before). All right, so I managed to install the thing (I think) and launch it to see the tutorial. I can't log in though, and therein my problem (the one I see anyway).

The game says to log in through Steam or the launcher, but from what I can see, the "Launch The Witcher Adventure Game.lnk" shortcut points to a Galaxy Client application which refuses to run at all (never shows up among running processes), so I'm at a loss on how to log in.

TL;DR Can't log in in order to try out the beta in Wine.

Might be something in this thread.
After the first game I am with very good impressions. I love the music and the audio! Gameplay looks fantastic! I look forward to play much more!

Oh, thanks, didn't even think of checking the game-specific forum.
Has the beta period ended? I have a faint memory of reading somewhere that it would end sometime late september. Is that Why I can't be authenticated anymore?
