Almost forgot, Twin Falls Castle Town has been through lots of changes visually and here's couple of screenshots to prove it.

Chronicles of Vaeltaja is getting new NPCs, so no more anime characters! Here's couple of screenshots.

New Chronicles of Vaeltaja video is here! In this video I take you to the Castle Town of Twin Falls kingdom. I talk with NPCs, visit shops, bar, inn, cathedral and castle. There's lore and history of Twin Falls to learn, so prepare to read. I also show in the cathedral how rising 'charisma' changes conversation topic. I hope you enjoy!

Impressive work.) However, I'd like to suggest some interface improvements:

1. Place camera at the eye level of player character, or reduce the height of NPCs. Currently everyone appears to be twice as tall as your party members. :)
2. Increase width of the dialogue panel. It will allow to display more text at once and use wide-screen resolutions effectively.
3. Showing character portraits on the dialogue panel is a bit excessive for a first-person view.
4. Display the entire content of books in full-screen window. It is really tiresome to read a book using dialogue mode. ;)
5. In trading interface it would be better to reduce width of the items list and increase size of description / details panel at the same time.

Thank you!
1. There's one problem with rising the camera: Some players have hard time of navigating, if they can't see little bit of the floor and ceiling of the square they're standing on, so this is kind of like the 'sweet spot' for it, but there's FOV option to change it. I'm now just testing the size of npcs - I just resized them bigger than they were before I made the video - so I guess I'll resize them again. :)
2., 4., 5. UI is still work in progress, so there's going to be changes there.
3. Portraits are shown only for characters that you can hire, so party characters would be easier to recognize.

You can use some small icon ( 16 x 16 or so ) instead of a portrait to indicate hireable characters.
Looks good. I'll probably try it out once you release.

This output is better, but book font is hard to read.)

Witchgrove Games: I totally understand that and I respect that and I'm definitely not interested to turn this in some sort of gender battle. It's just that with this game I'm telling a certain story about a certain character who, like I said before, happens to be a male character. I'm not trying to be rude here or anything, but if this is a deal breaker for you, then it is and this then might not be a game for you. I'm just developing a retro-inspired story driven dungeon crawler rpg that takes inspiration from old classics like Lands of Lore and Ultima series, not Skyrim, so this is a very niche game anyway and I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea. I have a clear vision and story that I've been developing over 10 years - of course that doesn't mean I'm not open for critique or suggestions, but in the end I decide how this is going to turn up.

At this point I can only promise that I'll take it into consideration, but that might lead me to changes in later parts which I might not be willing to do.

dtgreene: Worth noting that the Ultima games, up through Ultima 7, allow you to choose a male or female character. (Ultima 3 even has an "Other" option, as well.)
Gender choice added, also name can be changed. :) Don't know about choosing a portrait yet, but I'll look into it at some point.
I've now added an auto-battle system and battle log to keep track of turns and actions. I've also made books little bit easier to read and some adjustments to UI.

I'm starting to test a reputation system, that will affect things here and there. It has a slight random factor that may also affect the outcome.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention that the beginning of the game now reminds of Ultima series.

VaeltajaZ: Hi everyone!

If I may get your attention for a little while I would like to present you Chronicles of Vaeltaja: In Search of the Great Wanderer:

A crpg in development by one man indie company Witchgrove Games. It takes you back to the golden era of pc-gaming when classics like Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Ultima and Lands of Lore ruled the world and home computers like Amiga and Atari ST were still alive. This first-person adventure-rpg is made with RPG Maker MZ enhanced with bunch of great plugins like Cutievirus' MZ3D which takes RPG Maker to a whole new level.
Haven't had time for the vids(at the moment), but I read through the thread and looked at all the pics......and I must say, this looks like a game i'd probably have much fun playing. As such, I voted and wish you the best of luck.

Side Note: your "spiel" above reminds me of Jeff Vogel and the origins of Spiderweb Software. May you enjoy as much success, and may us gamers enjoy many good games :)
