Meet the GOG.com community-inspired NPC for the upcoming RPG epic

UPDATE: A slender column of white smoke rises gently towards the sky: The community hath spoken! Dominating the competition with a whopping 59% of all votes, Eithne has been chosen as the GOG Hero to join the cast of Divinity: Original Sin 2 – heading to GOG.com day one.

Back in October, we asked you guys to devise a GOG.com character with a unique quest in Divinity: Original Sin 2. We collected tons of incredible ideas, while the talented team at Larian Studios designed three characters to embody the most awesome of those traits and concepts:

- Doryld "The Doryld" Surpass: On a soapbox in the town square, the madman messiah proclaims his divinity. He is the new Divine! His audience of three, two of whom are drunk (the other may be you), ask for proof of his powers. He resists. They insist.

- Fadeland Johns: The veteran masked adventurer drones on about her exploits in the old world. How the young people of today don't know nothin'. She's going out into the world to show 'em how adventure is done proper. Just as soon as she finishes this drink.

- Eithne: You encounter Eithne - masked and cloaked - weighed down with a massive rucksack of knowledge. She has books to trade and books to sell - mostly rare and arcane knowledge better left unlearnt...

Turns out the allure of the wandering librarian was irresistible. Ancient scrolls? Forbidden knowledge? Enigmatic mask? Yes, please!
Thanks to everyone who helped choose the GOG Hero for Divinity: Original Sin 2 and for making the anticipation for this epic RPG even more unbearable. At least we have Divinity: Original Sin to keep us busy, right?

ZaineH: Insta-voted for The Doryld.
same here , but the 1 + 2 seem to be male so the female with no visible face will obviously win....

i have seen chars in the past that resembled 2 (a knight like character) and 3 (a ninja like character)
thats why the 1 was my choice. : The Doryld

He looks like nutcase/underdog or so, thats alway nice.

Problem is these will be the 'card' images? the game looks like 3d so i assume the playing character will be vector like people with square arms like WoW ?
I assume the drawn character (which i will always prefer over rendered sterile shiny characters (3d/unreal engines)
will be uses in the stats and char. generation or so?

Seeing a game that would show more humanlike ( hand drawn)characters (please no voxels/vectors) in the game itself doing battle . would look differnet for a change, cause real people dont glimmer and arent shiny aswell.
Anyway most of the time i find these 3d characters looking 'unnatural' so 'plastic' like.
Thats why i stick to the old homm games, , cause homm5 and up went down the drain imho, as did all games that had seen the 3d light went down the toilet, straight into the sewers, cause i cant see the charm of 3d characters.

Karine: Goooo Eithne! Hahaha.

When I voted for her, I didn't suspect she would be in the lead. I'm glad to see she's winning, she's the coolest of the three to me. As a book lover myself, I have a soft spot for folks who share my interest, even if they happen to be fictional video game characters. I find The Doryld kind of interesting, too, though Fadeland Johns does nothing for me. No offence to those who voted for her, personal taste and all that.

Nice of you to hold this poll, GOG, it made my day a little more fun.
well i kinda did expect that :D the knight is well a knight, no face just helmet ,most of the time male.
the first one is a male and a geek...
obvious that the girl/woman (to bad there is no face) would lead by a mile.

I think people are voting for Eithne because you mention she's a vendor. Perhaps if the other two had similar benefits people would be more inclined to vote for them.
All seemed cool characters, Doryld would be fun, but Eithne seems more like me. Undead (no life) book wormy type so I will go with her.
Lemme get this straight: There's a vote for a gog community-inspired NPC and not one of them is named tinyE? How could you let this happen?
I had to choose Eithne because she closely fits my personality. I'm sitting in front of a $2500 computer and other electronics surrounding me, but I'm more addicted to books (I have bookcases surrounding the electronics!). Plus I like characters who are more serious and share knowledge, but I have to wonder about the forbidden knowledge that Eithne has...

In any case, voted.

From now on, the E shall stand for Eithne instead of Elvis. Whether he likes it or not. ;)

Vythonaut: Because I couldn't get Paypal to work for me at the time, due to the capital controls. I proudly backed the first one (Larian is one of my favourite developers) and they delivered one of the best cRPG experiences I've had during the last decade. It goes without saying that I wanted to back the second one too!
Still don't see it as a huge deal -- I mean, they'll still finish the game, and you'll still get to play it, right? Or did you miss any backer exclusive goodies?

catpower1980: I voted for Dorlyd as he's the most unusual character out of the three. :)

Konrad: Good!
He might not have wicked cool armor, but the description is both amazing and hilarious.

The Doryld for #GOGHero!
I cast my vote that way too (and the results so far are quite upsetting).
Come on people ! The Dorlyd can solve the whistling in a jiff, 'tis said.

Voted for the underdog... story of my life, really.

Vythonaut: It was a huge mistake that I didn't back D:OS2. Huge, huge, huge!
Look at the bright side - you've got the rest of your life to dwell on it.
The grumpy old drunk and undead adventuress. No contest. That's the one that should come from GOG.
Just wanted to say that all of these NPCs would be absolutely awesome to have in the game. A huge "Well done!" to the creators. I ended up going with Eithne, however, not because of the Witcher reference, but because I thought about it from a roleplaying perspective and decided that she provided the most possibilities in an encounter. The Doryld was really funny, but completely shallow that the devs probably wouldn't do much with. Fadeland Johns stays in the tavern, and while her stories would be interesting to read, there once again probably wouldn't be much done with her. I think Eithne would be able to add the most to a game if the developers decide to really make the most of her character.

I voted for Eithne because she seemed the best fit for a GOG related NPC. After all, this site started out as Good Old Games, a pretty nifty experiment to prove that people would be willing to spend money to purchase legal copies of ten year old games that were otherwise available on abandonware sites. If GOG were anthropomorphized into a character, I could easily see it wandering around with a big sack of floppy disks slung over its shoulder. Of the three NPCs presented in the survey, Eithne seemed to resonate with that image the most. Even the resurrection story fits as GOG helped bring a lot of games back from the dead.

Ah if only I had room for more book cases. I have piles of books and Blu-rays on the floor as I've consumed too much space. I also dread the Black Ring showing up. Insurance companies just don't cover against them.

EndlessKnight: I don't care for any of the choices, so I shall vote for Eithne. ...because women are pretty. tee hee ヽ(^。^)ノ

Gilozard: Fadeland Johns is also female! Who will win your heart, the crazy lich adventurer or the crazy lich librarian?
They can have my heart when I get their phylacteries. Never trust a Lich with your heart, unless you have something over them or a really big dog that loves bones...
I see there is not many recent posts in the Divinity forum, so if someone could answer this question, I would appreciate it!!

https://www.gog.com/forum/divinity_series/control_question

Edit: Thank you to the developer that answered my question!

Edit: Congratulating GOG as well.
Day 1 game for GOG, and advanced voting for a character. Congrats GOG!
