As promised, we have really great offers for you to celebrate the biggest gaming event in Europe - GamesCom in Cologne, Germany, for those of you who don't know what we're talking about. Not one, but two promos are running on GOG.com this week! First and foremost you can now grab the one and only The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for only $29.99 (40% off the regular price)! The game that received IGN, GameSpot, GamePro and many others Editor’s Choice mentions and is believed by many to be on of the best PC titles of the year, is now available for the most affordable price you can find!

Additionally to this offer, we're having a 40% discount on games that enjoyed great success in Germany back in the good old days. You can grab Jagged Alliance 1 for $3.59 and Jagged Alliance 2 for just $5.99; Battle Isle Platinum for $5.99, Realms of Arkania 1 and 2 for $3.59, Realms of Arkania 3 for $3.59 and Master of Orion 1+2 for $3.59. This way everyone around the world can enjoy this gamer’s holiday even if you're not attending the show.

Both promotions end on Monday, August 22 at 3:59 a.m. (7:59 a.m. GMT), so don't wait and save those monies!

blackjudas: Which would you pick?
Witcher... JA2 and Master of Orion...
I would go for JA2 and Master of Orion personally...Not only is it two (well three if you count both MoO titles) great games instead of just one great game, it is also cheaper, plus, and we all know this to be true, The Witcher 2 will continue to go down in price, and should be on sale even cheaper by christmas...of course if you really really want the Witcher 2 then, get it now before it goes off sale for months! In any case, give my sympathies to your credit card. ;-)

Thanks, yeah, the same train of thought was going through my mind. Is JA2 all that it's cracked up to be? I can wait for the Witcher, I wouldn't play it right away anyways, just a need to support gog for their efforts. I'm weird that way.

My credit card thanks you for your sympathies, if it wasn't for everyone taking a ride on it, maybe it wouldn't feel so violated. Though I think gog is a welcome "rider".

Heh.

In all truth, I have not played JA2 for years, but I do remember I liked it a lot. :) Further, I did play JA: Deadly Games quite recently and I still love it as much as I did 10 years ago, and JA2 is more of the same, only better graphics etc...and juding by all the great reviews of JA2, and my somewhat aged memory, I would say that it is definetly a classic, and if I was only going to choose one JA game to play it would be #2 all the way.

Yes, unlike oil and water, GOG and credit cards mix quite well. In fact, many promos are like a big sleepover at my place between those two. ;D
high rated
I would like a 40% discount on a PC that can run the Witcher 2, please.
Hi GOG,

Awesome games. Thank you!

Do you think you could get some Amiga games?

Bye!
I am very disappointed about this promo. Please don't forget, what your name stands for - Good OLD Games. I don't want The Witcher 2, even if it seems to be a great game, it's just a new game. I want to play the legendary LucasArts-Adventures (luckily I own some of them), I want to play Doom, Worms, Karts, Command & Conquer etc. There are so many brilliant games missing on GOG and I hope they will be available some day.

Maybe you open up another site GNG for Good New Games, but don't mix up!

The other games in your promo are disappointing as well for a European Gaming Convention, what about Ubisoft titles or a really cool offer like: Buy 1, get one free...
Well, just fired up JA2 and I'm thrilled. The fiction is straight-forward but well done, and that faux-little network/internet is cool as hell. I cannot for the life of me figure out why I quite playing in the first place. First team recruited and ready to get started. Good fucking fun.

deadfolk: Must...not...buy...Battle...Isle...

Must...

Resist...
It is pointless to resist...[gasping]
The gog side is too strong.
It's actually also time for a permanent discount on TW2, maybe remove the "fair price package" deal for good.

See this special sale just as a need to bring more oldies here. The two Witcher games brought many new customers (Witcher 2 is one of the bestselling games) and the special sale for the gamescom will also catch some new customers. With a growing customer base it's easier to attract Lucasarts and other publisher. Next week there will be another oldie sale for sure.

Btw, looking at our names gog missed another in germany very popular game ;-)

OK, let's hope for many new customers and a legendary shooter-sale next time... :)
Am I right, that there will be no other promo this weekend?

Seems that way, seeing how this one will last til Monday.

Great promo btw, GOG dudes! But I don't have the money for it right now and I'm going on a long vacation next week, so TW2 will have to remain on my wishlist a while longer.

Why not mixing up? Not offering Witcher 2 wouldn't make LucasArts coming here any more likely at all?

After all Witcher 2 is the flagship game from their sister/parent company and offering it here means that we get it for really good conditions (competitive price, no DRM) and they can bypass retailers and Steam and collect the maximal share of the sales prices. This is perfect and as far as I know will be an exception at least for some time, because it's not as big publishers are standing in line to get their AAA titles DRM free on GOG.

So why wreaking on Witcher 2 because of your dissatisfaction with the amount of games? I think the focus of GoG is still very much on good and old. But not solely and I like it. The more the better and the name is not so important.
