A game that has a huge cult following around the world finally gets some new adjustments. As the creator of Stardew Valley sums up – 1.4 update purpose is not just to add new content, but to make the game even more enjoyable.

For example, some tools will now prove to be more efficient. Moreover, every spouse of the main character will get an additional after-marriage quest. Gamers will also receive a convenient screenshot button to make a photo of their farm, which they can later share with friends. To celebrate its 1.4 update release, Stardew Valley will be available on GOG.COM with a 10% discount until 3rd December 2019, 6 PM UTC.

Not only Stardew Valley fans will be satisfied with improvements and additional features today. A free DLC for the Project Hospital game, called Doctor Mode, is out now on GOG.COM. Also, you can buy Tangledeep – Dawn of Dragons DLC, with a 10% discount until 3rd December 2019, 5 PM UTC.
A full day after it was released to everybody else everywhere else, and GOG still haven't bothered to release the Linux version for their customers.

I repeat: you should be very, very glad there are no real competitors for DRM Free aware customers.

PS: There are achievements in the actual game. It works fine. If you require 15 achievements for starting up the game the first time via bloatware like steam or galaxy, it's of course grotesquely horrific that such a thing is not available for this game.
played the crap out of this game, its so relaxing.. well sort of. the short day timers sucks but whatever. I may reboot the game to see the changes and maybe continue on farming

It's about feature parity.

Whether you use it or not it is nice to see the same features available on all storefronts.

Galaxy allows you to turn them off, or you can install without Galaxy, but if you want them it's nice for them to be there.

Even if you don't want them it's nice for them to be there so when people look here, then on Steam, they don't see features available on the DRM store that are not present here.
Fair enough. I simply dislike the achievement craze everywhere.

As for the continuing lack of the update for Linux (feature parity again, sort of), I tried to email the developer directly and ask about it. If he wasn't aware before, at least he should be now. Hopefully something happens one way or another.

There are mods for that. ;)

somewhat emberassing that the developer should be bothered to deal with this.

Pangaea666: (…)
Thank you. I'm starting to get annoyed about the delay.
Still no new update for Linux.

Yes, please update this. GOG put up the sales message right at the top of thread, and of course, can not reply to that.
I used GOG because I thought my nieces/nephews would enjoy it here. But they don't like GOG, prefer steam or consoles. I'm even starting to give up on GOG. Not because I care about the couple of days, but because it just means there aren't any people running the web store at GOG who care.
Argh! The days are counting, and GOG still don't give a shit. Why are we here?

Every single day I miss the GOG that was. They actually gave a crap. Then they grew and tried to become like steam. Here is the result.

(Except on steam they actually have the linux build, so go figure)
I am also waiting for the linux update here. Have stopped buying games at GOG a while ago, GOG is not worth it anymore. Although I am very supportive of the no-DRM philosohpy, Steam has lured me over to their side via proton.

If I didn't care about DRM I'd probably have switched over long ago tbh, at least if the bloatware overlay thing wasn't a de facto requirement. But the way GOG have changed over the last 3-5 years I also expect them to drop the DRM Free philosophy. They've dropped everything else they once stood for, and are currently trying their best to copy steam. I'll be disappointed when it happens, but not truly surprised.

But in the meantime we keep waiting for them to find it in their hearts to allow us to download the Linux version of this game, that is available everywhere else. Perhaps somebody will find a few spare minutes in between something else and actually do it at some point before 2020. If only we had infinite patience :(

It isn't necessary for all games. There is a command line downloader that I use on my laptop to update/install some drm free games like Square Cells (and its sequels), Caves of Qud (I bought it long before the GOG release) and Tangledeep (I chose the Steam version because of the faster updates).
I wonder if this is a case of the developer not knowing that they can upload linux the same way as windows and mac (at least I read that its possible these days) or that they have uploaded it and gog have just not noticed.

I take it someone has filed a bug report with gog?
