I recently finished The Han Solo Adventures by Brian Daley, I really liked the first book. but I don't think books 2 and 3 were exactly as good even though they were still worth reading.
Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.

NuffCatnip: Recently finished 'American Psycho' and 'La Divina Commedia'.
A couple passages in American Psycho weren't really my cup of tea, but it's an excellent novel nonetheless and La Divina Commedia is simply gorgeous.
Next up is War and Peace.
Kriech und Friesen?
Nah, not my cup of tea. But maybe I should read it, if only because that I can say that I read it.
I recently read " Zero - Kadett der Sterne" by Sara King (Original title: Forging Zero - The legend of zero, book 1"

In this novel, earth is conquered by troops of the "Intergalactic Congress" that rules a big part of the universe. As a tribute, earth has to give it`s children to the Congress and they have to serve as soldiers for the Congress. Zero is one of them and becomes a recruit of the Congress army. It`s a bit like Starship Troopers, but the other way round.
Good and thrilling novel.

Didn't get to read War and Peace yet, still have to finish Faust, because of a recommendation, not really my cup of tea though.

That novel sounds like a good read, might give it a shot.

Really good book for sure. Love the dry sarcastic tone of the writing.

Have you read anything else by him?
Petrin matka Myyrmanniin by Armas Gerdt. A book about the 2002 bombing at Myyrmanni written by the perpetrator's father.

I read Slaughterhouse-Five some fifteen years ago. It has stuck with me, but I haven't read anything else from him until now.
Snow in the Year of the Dragon

Before reading this, meant to write a full review intended to somewhat cover the entire series, also thinking this was the end of it. But... No. And it's not the end anyway, though most of the time I sure hoped it would be, just to get it over with. Yes, I'd say the writing itself remains the strongest point, not counting a number of typos, but even that seems less notable than before. It's possible that I disliked the content too much to care though, since for the first three quarters of the book, the only parts I thought were written about as well as I've gotten to expect from the author were Sireth and Ursa's sections, which were also the only ones I didn't exactly dislike in terms of content.
Sadly, even those sections consisted of court intrigue, scheming and what I tend to call human filth, yet this kind of filth was much more present everywhere else and there's little that could save those other sections. Admittedly, it's a subjective point of view, my first complaint being the obviously postapocalyptic setting, with the typical elements of the genre much more present than before, yet even Shar and Setse's sections left me cold, and in general I didn't get much of a feeling of adventure, sense of exploration, reasons to care for the characters, their relationships and development. All of that should be present, considering the events, but I just didn't feel it anymore.
Things do quite suddenly seem to click into place nearly three quarters of the way in, even if that's still a postapocalyptic place that I remain very much put off by, and it is quite a ride for a while, but it still didn't quite strike me as truly meeting even the standards set by the previous books, and it's definitely not enough to change the impression left by the rest. It may be just me, of course, but I was searching for what I got to expect to like from the author and can say I found only traces of it here.

Rating: 3/5

Stuck on the same book, eh? Though, I only read while travelling, so I take that as a reason that I still haven't finished it.
★☆☆ Englebert des collines / Jean Hatzfeld
★☆☆ Life Laid Bare: The Survivors in Rwanda Speak / Jean Hatzfeld

Very interesting subject, but both book are not interesting at all. Avoid it.

★★★ Python Web Scraping 2nd Edition / Katharine Jarmul

Hard to imagine something better. Perfectly clear, complete and full of practical advice book about web scraping using one of the most powerful and popular programming languages. It show a wide range of methods - starting from the easiest ones using a few lines of code to complex multi-thread solutions collecting and storing data.

★★★ Nieznana wojna / Otto Skorzeny

Another (German) view on World War II. Great lecture for those who want to understand German nazi's point of view.

★★★ Boso, ale w ostrogach / Stanisław Grzesiuk
★★★ Pięć lat Kacetu / Stanisław Grzesiuk

First book is auto-biography of young boy living in middle-war Warsaw. Just brilliant. Second one tells the hard truth about German work camps during II world war (author spent there 5y, which is impressive result considering death rate and average time-to-death of prisoners - in book we'll find the answer how he did that).

★★☆ Beautiful Blood / by Lucius Shepard

I liked Dragon Griaule and I'm happy that I was able to read this one, sharing the same setting and being interesting story full of very realistic and fascinating characters - as always in Shepard's books.

★★★ Myśli nowoczesnego endeka by Rafał A. Ziemkiewicz
★★☆ Piast Poland / Paweł Jasienica
★☆☆ Moje życie w Chrystusie / św. Jan z Kronsztadu
★☆☆ Azyl / Jarosław Grzędowicz
★★☆ Pakt Piłsudski-Lenin / Piotr Zychowicz

List of all books finished in 2018.
Hardwired - Walter Jon Williams

Written in 1986, this book can be put on par with William Gibson books about what became the Cyberpunk genre. It tells the story of Cowboy, a pilot wired to his panzer/delta and Sarah, the mercenary/prostitue/killer with a cybercobra in her throat.

Everything that became Cyberpunk/Shadowrun RPGs or other pearls in the cyberpunk genre is already there. An excellent read, fast, gripping, with good characters and just enough hope left in a world dominated by orbiting megacorporations to still want to see what tomorrow has to offer. A must read.
