Do you need the perfect game to relax after a long week? What if it came with a wholesome bonus?!

Since the release of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure (-45%), developers UsTwo and publisher Plug In Digital, have been working with social enterprise Ecologi to sustainably plant one tree for every copy sold, with the goal of reaching one million. As this milestone is fast approaching, we'd like to help with this final push. Starting today, we're putting the game on a 72H Flash Deal, until 29th November 2021, 2 PM UTC, with an all-time high discount of -45%, and we will be doubling the base amount of trees planted for each copy sold on GOG during that period!

joveian: In case anyone else is wondering I checked the cost per tree on their business page is listed as £0.12.

Kasper...: And FYI: a lot of other non-profit allow you to donate to plant trees, they all "cost" 1$/tree.

So yes, this is just a fake "good guy" marketing strategy to drive up sales.
They are not a non profit.

Vollinger: I'm putting "baltic bitch" as a write-in vote, hoping maybe our grand-grand-grandsons won't have to live this cruel world where plywood costs hundred bucks a sheet.
No question this world of humans and the world itself is cruel and a mess. As an aside, one could point out the depictions of nature in this title, at least from the screenshots/game description are inaccurate to say the least (i.e. nature is not this lovey-dovey pie-in-the-sky looking pastel paradise; rather, it is an open-air arena where animals eat other animals alive). So, why keep perpetuating the cycle? I mean when you think about it, one can't really count on future children being super stoked about coming into this quagmire...even if a few more pretty trees are planted along the way in the meantime :)

I have become a bit more cynical over the years regarding giving money to some charity organizations
At least here i have heard of a lot of it has gone to administration
disapeared in corruption (Abbas private jet) or that the ceos of the charity organization have a millon in pay
or other such shaninigans.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/amid-funding-cut-fears-pa-purchases-50-million-private-jet-for-abbas-report/

I bougth the game annyway
and hope the guys doing this tree planting fund at least are better than those examples

I think Mister Beast already did this and moved on to another. Didn't have to buy anything but could donate. He and many others went out and worked on planting the trees as well as many, many others. He also was laying down more of his money to match donations at certain points.

I thought politics threads/talk(that isn't game related) isn't allowed on GOG? o.0

That said, imo planting trees is a pretty good thing/cause
(well, as long as said trees are actually being planted)

Yep. I knew it was something to do with water. Just couldn't remember it earlier. Thank you.
