Today we have a HUGE surprise for all classic game fans! 4 outstanding titles return to GOG.COM, accompanied by a special message from their publisher:

„Syndicate and Ultima Underworld are back! It seems that twenty years on there’s still plenty of love for these titles so we’re pleased to confirm that effective immediately they’ll be available again on GOG, and we’ll be keeping them in the store for the foreseeable future. To celebrate this we’re offering these games as a free download for four weeks.”

That’s right! Until the 3rd of September 2021, 5 PM UTC, you can grab copies of Syndicate Plus™, Syndicate Wars, and Ultima Underworld I & II free of charge.

So, don’t hesitate any longer and dive into the captivating worlds of those classic gems!
Well, I didn't see this happening after the delisting! And awfully surprised to see EA being nice for once. But, well, they were darn nice with this move, so thank you to them for that.
I'm grateful for these giveaways, specially Ultima Underworld I and II which I have wanted to give them a try long ago. Can't say the same about Syndicate because I've played it lots, a special game for me and my childhood. Won't hurt giving another play again. Thanks GOG as always!
Thanks for bringing these classics back to the store, GOG and EA!

Even when I already have owned all of them I benefit from it as it gives me back the access to the game cards, because you still haven't managed to keep game cards of removed games accessible for their owners, GOG.

They were away?
Anyway, I'll grab the remaining both (second Syndicate and Ultima Underworld), the first Syndicate I bought many years ago. Thanks gog! :)
Thank you! I still have my boxed copy of Ultima Underworld on the shelf beside me, but this'll give me a fine excuse to delve back in :D

How do we know that?

Can anyone guarantee that no money changed hands in terms of GOG paying EA in order to make the games free for some time?

Because if GOG did pay them any money, then the games being free has nothing to do with EA being 'nice.'

Mr.Mumbles: I find it bizarre that GOG even gives me the option to refund games I've bought 8+ years ago. o.O
When you think the flaws in GOG's logic cannot surprise you anymore... :)
I'm actually surprised by this, specially since it was delisted... and it's from EA!

I made a post on the EA forums thanking them for the freebies and of course asking for more GOG releases.

Thanks! Bought all of them right after hearing the upcoming removal. Can't say I wasn't a bit upset when knowing I could have gotten them for free one month later. But I guess it's still better than regretting losing the chance for good to get them DRM-freed. Not gonna refund considering I got them at the price that was cheap enough (yeah, money still mattered). Just hope EA will bring more of their facinating titles onto GOG.

Nice!
Thanks!

I can guarantee you that whatever money changed hands is irrelevant as a percentage of the money EA brings in from their other games. The cost of recording and reporting the money these titles normally bring in quite possibly exceeds it. So, it actually is nice in and of itself that EA continues to make them readily available as they have little profit motivation to do so.

erbello: BTW: gift keys are lifelong (until 2199 year) ;)
Except if GOG revokes all codes after the deadline, like it did for the Syberia freebies.
Thanks EA! This time has done a good choice.
