Tarnicus gave me Puzzle Quest as a pre-house warming gift (the move is STILL being delayed! ARGH!) and I was able to give it a try the other night. Friends have told me for years that this is a really great game, but I never got around to trying it.

It turns out that Puzzle Quest is just as addictive and fun as they'd been telling me! What great stress relief it is! What we have is an RPG-lite, with battles done via match-3's. That may not sound that interesting, but there's a definite strategy to it (lest ye be defeated,) with equipment, skill points, etc. to help you on your way. No two play-throughs will be the same, as you can take quests in any order you wish (though of course some are locked until you reach a higher level.)

Thanks again for the stress-relief-game, Tarnicus!

Currently playing Bad Mojo Redux gifted in real.geizterfahr's 100 giveaway. The attention to detail is astounding and quite a bit creepy. So if you don't mind images of moving cockroaches, half-dead mice in mousetraps, dead flies, spiders, cigarette butts, etc. This is the game for you!
I got Steamworld Dig from dedoporno's Big Daddy giveaway. I've been having tons of fun digging every mineral in the game, getting the upgrades and etc... It's a simple game, but fun. The character design is good as well, steampunk western is a weak spot for me :)

I also got Thief Gold from IanM, and like I said in my entry for his giveaway, trying to sneak while using tap shoes will never go out of fashion :)

I'd also like to thank GaminggUy45 from his spare NWN code from the Neverwitcher Nights tread, revisiting that game was a trip to nostalgia land :D
About 10 minutes ago I loaded up Monster Loves You, which I won in a contest by Bigs. I've just been sitting here and listening to the lovely opening instrumental. So very relaxing! At some point I'll actually start the game, but for now, I'm just enjoying the music!

EDIT for more easily-understood wording ;p

I've got about an hour into Arx Fatalis, which I won from trentonlf, and I've been enjoying it. It's worth the buzz that surrounds it.
Just finished playing through Gray Matter. :)

Unfortunately, I just can't remember (or locate a reference to) who gifted it to me. T__T Though I sure as hell thanked the person for the gift back then.

I started that one the night before last, but haven't had a chance to get very far, yet.

I was able to play Monster Loves You! for about 20 minutes this morning, and it's a cute Choose-your-own-adventure-type of thing. I'm not terribly good at being a monster -- I'm too nice! lol~
I'm playing Splatter Blood Red Edition I got from HijacK and it is a really great top down shooter zombie game. It has a noir style reminiscent of Max Payne. Awesome game overall. Thank you once again HijacK for an awesome game.
chevkoch's GA netted me MDK. I had trouble getting it to load, and once finally working, have had some bugs that have prevented me from really getting started. I'm going to work on it this weekend, though, and see if I can finally get it going properly.

realkmann666's GA was Botanicula, so I could play it with my two boys, ages 5 and 6. I'd like to share a little story from earlier this week.

We're past the 2nd major puzzle now, and at one point, in the game, you get your first real "jump-scare" when one of the little bad guys jumps out at you. When it happened, here's a rough transcript of the boys' reactions:

5YO: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! (look of terror)
6YO: (brief pause) Want to see it again?
5YO: (brief pause, then quietly:) Yes.
6YO: (clicks button)
Both: BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!

trentonlf gifted me Don't Starve. I suck. I die. A lot. What a fantastic game - I love the look, the sounds, the atmosphere. It's just tough!

awlaterj gave me Cognition, after I used my psychic powers to learn what was in the box. Haven't started yet, but it is next on my list of Adventure games and I am really looking forward to it. My wife and I might play it together, we've decided.
Through Wurzelkraft's GA I won King of Dragon Pass, and I have played the crap out of it. Who would have thought a game with no animation would be such a soul sucker. Absolutely love it.

Thanks again!! :)

That is a fantastic game, and I love the idea of playing it with your spouse... I also love the rough transcript of your kids' reaction to Botanicula *snicker* I enjoyed that game :D

You're not alone. I seem to be rather proficient at death in Don't Starve. It IS fun though.

A little while ago xckx gifted my Skyrim LE, and I've now got several hours into it. I'd heard such mixed reviews about it. Anywhere from "It's a terrible console port that isn't worth time or money" to "It's the greatest video game evaarr!". I can see it being a life sucker. Lot's of fun, and tons to do.

I think it was a quite good Jane Jensen game. I didn't like how the story develops in it's last third, but it was overall very worth it.
