It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

A big hello to you all out there!

I've been doing a lot of reading through with VPN's etc and thought i'd ask the GOG community of their thoughts.

I'm after one (don't mind payin money either) that has it all, the one that doesn't keep your info & allows you to be anonymous online. I use Tor to browse the internet and hoping to combine the two to be more protected.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Cant wait for Fallout 4!!

Cheers,
It's probably the kind of thing you'd want to research on your own, or ask on a general forum. Going to game forums and saying you want a VPN is looking for trouble. Try Whirlpool forums; their abundant with fellow Aussies.
I honestly haven't used that many and only one paid, but i can tell you what i have used and what i use it for and you decide if it's any help. My use is not primarily security, but to get around region locks so that i can watch European free to air TV stations that broadcast on the web- mainly to watch local sport, primarily bike racing as it's what i do myself. I have no interest in debating the legalities or morals of using a VPN for what i do, i don't care and i'm going to do it anyway. And i seriously doubt anyone is going to be sending any lawyers out after me for watching bike races on Polish free TV.

To be honest the free VPN's i tried were not suitable as connections were too slow and inconsistent for the rate of streaming i needed. I think VPN's are often a case of you get what you pay for, but they vary as to what it is you actually want from them. Anyway CyberGhost offered a $20 12 month payment offer for their premium service that i decided to give a try, and that is what i've used so far, so that is all i can comment on. But the reliability has been perfect, speed good enough for streaming at 3.5k at least and they have servers in all the counties that i need. So for what i've been using it for it's been good.
CyberGhost say they keep no personal info, since i've never given them any personal info then that part is probably true enough. But how much of your usage records they keep and how easily they would give that info to any relevant authorities, i don't know. You'd have to do your own research there if your really worried, or really doing some serious illegal stuff.
Every single VPN is garbage sometimes, I tried several of them, both at work, and at home, and all them have issues from time to time, or maybe is the Great Wall of Fire, or maybe both things combined, but due to my work for me is mandatory to use them.

I recommend you to buy a cheap trial, or use a free one for a time, before invest in a whole year one.

This doesn't make much sense. If you are traced through tor, no VPN will help you. Since VPN providers are companies which want to make money, they will keep data on any transactions, logins/logout and even more (URLs, IPs, kind of data), simply to be on the secure side. They will give out your data, if they get sued or are just threatened. Everything else would mean loss of money and you surely don't want to pay their attorneys, right?
You could look into this JonDonym. It's not a VPN but rather more like a competitor or an alternative to TOR. Just make sure you have premium when you test it as it's too slow otherwise.
You can try TunnelBear - I'm using this VPN mainly for watching BBC iPlayer, although I also tried US Netflix for 1 month. They do not keep logs (according to their website), but payment history is kept for 1 year. P2P/Torrents are not allowed.

TunnelBear has three versions - Little, Giant and Grizzly. Little bear is free, but it has few restrictions:
- 500MB data limit per month (can be extended by additional 1000MB once per month by asking them for that, best way via Twitter)
- Split tunneling feature (called "IntelliBear") is not available
- Australian server not available ("Unfortunately servers are ridiculously expensive in Australia so tunnelling down under is only available to paid users")
- only 1 device can be connected to a VPN on single account

The only difference between Giant and Grizzly bears is the price. Giant is $6.99/month and Grizzly is $49.99/year.

Also check www.bestvpn.com - that's once of the websites related to VPNs.

Huh ? I don't get it, why can't he ask about VPNs ? There've been other threads about that here before, I don't recall anyone saying anything .

OK, I didn't realise I was meant to have knowledge about every thread on here. My concern points to the lovely thread about people buying games for dirt cheap while using VPNs. But, I guess I should retract my statement considering it's an Australian like me, who wants to tell their meta-data retaining government that their not impressed...

avnow8: First of all Free VPN do not work, sells your data, no security, and very limited bandwidth. The best option is to go for a paid VPN but after extensive research, since all of them are not worth paying for. A VPN service should at least have some added feature like DNS Leak protection, Kill Switch, NAT Firewall, etc. Military grade encryption, Multi Login & Multiplatform Compatibility. There are some very good VPN review website that you can look for, this is website is my go-to for a while, you can do some research here: www.bestvpn.co
You may want to invest in one of these:

As this thread is older than time itself :o)

I'm a member of a mercenary legal team that specializes in bike race viewing theft.

We're onto you now!

Curious - is it an encryption thing that people use VPNs for ebay/paypal?
Tunnel Bear slowed down my internet connection like crazy. I'm using Norton's WiFi Privacy VPN and even that's not all that much better.
