Continuing my tradition of giveaways with far too obscure thread titles: post a random fact about samurais or wolves for a chance to get a free copy of Battle Realms!

I don't remember where or when I got it, I'm pretty sure that on that occasion at least 90% of the community got it but hey, surely there's also a bunch of people here who don't have it yet. So, giveaway is open, will probably close it after the weekend. You can join for others but only if they have joined themselves as well. I want you to only join if you want to play the game, not for trading. If you win and trade it I'm going to draw a *very* insulting caricature of you and post it here for everyone to see. I'm warning you, I AM gonna do it!

Now, gimme some juicy samurai, wolf or samurai wolf facts! Wolf samurai facts are also okay...

Update: Giveaway is over, the game went to Ikarugamesh. Enjoy! And thanks for the tons of fun replies.

Sachys: guess you were kinda drunk during the sale then?! ;)
What are the odds? I messaged you a second ago. And nah, I wasn't drunk, I was just very distracted by my job. I only remember getting an extra copy of Sim City 2000 during the sale... and something about llamas...

O______o

...I must have been drunk during that point!
I don't want the game, but did you know that the best samurai in existence had a westernized name (for a nickname)? He also had a bagpipe-playing Scotsman who would aided him every once in a while. Especially when it came to fighting his inner demon.
This samurai also put the "samurai vs ninja" debate to rest when he defeated a ninja that crept in the shadows by creeping in the light.
He is the unsung hero of legends past.
Go forth and tell his story to all those who seek the truth.

As for warewolves...who believes in that nonesense?

Not really. Tom Cruise was a samurai, I'll give you that much. In fact, he was so awesome at being a Samurai that no others could live up to the name anymore. Hence "The last Samurai."
The one I'm talking about is before his time.

Surprisingly very close...in some respects....but not quite

Ok. Not in... But! Did you really know, that samurai, much like western knights, were NOT actually so chivalrous and honorable as they were propagated to be, plus they had been openly involved into occult traditions, like the ninja of old? They were not ashamed to hire ninja clans for doing their dirty job or utilizing unconventional weapons (firepower etc) against weaker, even crippled and disadvantaged foes. Also, the ronin (wayward wandering samurai not in service to a lord) were outright scum and criminals; raiders, thieves, killers in cold blood even of innocent civilians, rapists and drunkards. Some samurai were actually practicing openly the Shingon ritual, too, which... Enough said, sorry, i am not telling anything else on the matter.

About wolves... They can be partially tamed and domesticated. Some people even keep one as pet. I wouldn't, ever, for any reason, though.
Battle Realms looked way better on my old CRT monitor, on my widescreen monitor it's just so stretched and the the amount of the map displayed is too small, it's almost unplayable, I wish there was a widescreen hack out there.

Now that sounds like a great incentive for people to join. What's a mere game code, compared to the value of a unique and personal work of art!
First, I have no interest in the game, so find someone else to gift it to.

Anyway, have you heard of the Onna-bugeisha? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onna-bugeisha) These women, often called female samurai, used the naginata as a weapon.

(Side note: In Elminage Gothic, female Samurai (as well as Fighters and Mages) can use a female exclusive weapon called the Witch of Death. Unfortunately, that weapon happens to be cursed, though there are ways of dealing with that. Another note about Elminage Gothic, if you Spirit Pack a Nue, it becomes a Samurai (albeit niether male nor female).).

dtgreene: used the naginata as a weapon.
For some reason I read it with a 'v' as the first letter.

Anyway, not in, +1 and all that.
Wow, I really read that as DRother and was SO EXCITED that someone was talking about OSPF on the forums.

::hangs head in shame::
